Penybont and Pontypridd United will both appear in the Genero Adran South for the first time when they meet United at the SDM Glass Stadium on Sunday.
Bont were promoted to the division from the SWWGL Combined, which saw them win 14 out of their 16 matches and score 57 goals along the way – half of which came from exciting teenage forward Katie Richards.
Rhys Thomas’ side have already hit the ground running this season with 3-2 and 3-1 victories over Cwmbran Celtic and Cambrian United respectively in the Genero Adran Trophy.
Pontypridd are eyeing an immediate return to the Genero Adran Premier after relegation from the top-flight last season. A very youthful Dragons side will take on that challenge, skippered by the experience of Shannon Hindmarsh.
Ponty began their season in style with a 4-0 victory over Cambrian United in the Genero Adran Trophy, but were edged out by Cwmbran Celtic 5-4 in the same competition a week later.
After finishing as runners-up to Briton Ferry Llansawel in the Genero Adran South in the last two seasons, Cascade may finally fancy their chances of lifting the title after the Reds’ promotion.
Cascade begin the new league campaign at home to Swansea University following their 1-0 win over Llanelli Town in the Genero Adran Trophy last weekend thanks to a stoppage time goal from summer signing Megan Waite.
It has been a strong start to the season for Swansea Uni, who have picked up four points from their opening two group games in the Genero Adran Trophy against Llanelli Town and Caldicot Town.
The Swans ended an eight-match winless run against Cascade last season as they prevailed 2-1 thanks to Katie Horsburgh’s late winner before the two sides played out a 2-2 draw in the reverse fixture.
Finally, last season’s third-placed side Cwmbran Celtic travel to Llanelli Town to complete the opening weekend schedule.
Celtic will feel they can challenge towards the top end of the table again, especially with the signing of forward Lauren Boyd, who has scored in both Genero Adran Trophy fixtures so far this season.
Llanelli had a rough patch towards the end of last season, losing six consecutive matches and managing to score only one goal. The Reds are also winless from their first two Genero Adran Trophy fixtures this season, so will be hoping the start of the league campaign signals a turnaround in form.
The two sides shared the points in a 1-1 draw in their first meeting last season, but a Jade Crofts hat-trick would inspire Celtic to a comfortable 5-1 victory in the reverse fixture.
