Genero Adran South | Weekend preview

Cascade and Briton Ferry Llansawel will put their perfect league records on the line when they meet in the Genero Adran South on Sunday afternoon.

After finishing second and first respectively in 2022/23, the two clubs were the pre-season title favourites this year and they have both taken six points from a possible six so far.

Cascade were the only team to defeat Ferry in the Genero Adran South last season, triumphing 2-0 last December, but Rhys James’ side won the other three meetings throughout the campaign.

Swansea University have made a strong start to the season, earning four points from two league matches before beating Cascade in the Genero Adran Trophy group stage last week.

This weekend, Dan Sheehan’s side host newly-promoted Coed Duon who have claimed one point so far and will be hoping to bounce back from a 5-2 defeat to Pontardawe Town in the Genero Adran Trophy.

Katie Horsburgh scored twice in a 4-0 win for Swansea University when the two sides last met in November 2022 in the Genero Adran Trophy group stage.

Llanelli Town and Caldicot Town meet at Stebonheath, with both sides still searching for their first league win of the season.

Newly-promoted Llanelli lost to Swansea Uni on the opening weekend before a 1-1 draw away Coed Duon, while Caldicot are the only Genero Adran South team who have lost both of their opening two league fixtures.

It was only last weekend that the two clubs met in the Genero Adran Trophy group stage, with Lara Gait’s penalty cancelling out Nikola Kujawska’s opener in a 1-1 draw.

Pontardawe Town booked their spot in the Genero Adran Trophy knockout stage last weekend with a second consecutive win in the competition, but they have only taken one point from their two league games so far.

On Sunday they travel to newly-promoted Cwmbran Celtic, who triumphed 4-2 over Caldicot Town on the opening weekend before a 6-0 defeat to Briton Ferry.

It finished 2-2 when these two sides last met in the SWWGL in May 2022, with Fiona Anthony netting an 87th-minute equaliser for Celtic from the penalty spot.
