As well as the Genero Adran Premier, the 2026/27 Genero Adran Trophy gets under way this weekend with the first set of group stage fixtures.
The eight clubs from the Genero Adran North have been drawn into two groups of four and likewise in the Genero Adran South.
Each club will play everyone once in their group, before the top two clubs from each group progress to the round of 16 where the eight Genero Adran Premier teams enter.
Group 1
Last season’s Genero Adran North runners-up Llanfair United begin their Genero Adran Trophy group stage with a trip to face Flint Town United at the Essity Stadium.
Llanfair topped their group last season and nearly caused a massive shock in the last 16 after being narrowly 5-4 by previous cup winners The New Saints in an extraordinary contest. Lucie Gwilt has strengthened her squad with the loan signings of Maria Ewers and Grace Thomas from TNS this summer.
Flint Town finished narrowly behind Llanfair in the group stage only goal-difference, as was the case in the Genero Adran North. The Silkwomen were beaten 7-0 by eventual finalists Cardiff City, but will be hoping to gain more experience against top-flights clubs via this competition. The 2025/26 Genero Adran North Young Player of the Season Rosie Hughes has decided to embark on a new chapter out in the USA, but prolific striker Laura Williams has arrived, along with Poppy Smith and Millie O’Connor.
Flint’s player-manager Rebecca Eagles scored twice to give her side a 3-2 win over Llanfair in the Genero Adran Trophy group stage last season. Llanfair won 5-1 in the first league meeting thanks to Tania Wylde’s four-goal haul, but Flint got revenge on the final day of the season with a 2-1 home victory.
In Group 1’s other fixture, Felinheli host Bangor 1876, who have never reached the Genero Adran Trophy stage.
Felinheli lost 7-0 away to Aberystwyth Town in their last 16 tie last November, but Aaron Jones-Evans’ side have impressed in 2026 after they went unbeaten in seven out of their last nine league matches. New signing Angharad Jones has already made her mark in Felinheli colours since signing from Llandudno this summer as she scored five goals in a high-scoring win over Prestatyn Sports in the NWCFA Challenge Cup last month.
Bangor won their opening group match last season, but the two losses to Flint and Llanfair that followed ended their knockout hopes. Chris O’Neal is currently in charge of Bangor following the departure of former boss Aron Griffith and Hannah Owen arrives from Llandudno in their most notable signing.
Llywela Edwards missed a late penalty as both sides played out a 2-2 draw in their first Genero Adran North meeting last season, but she redeemed herself with two goals in a 6-0 win in the reverse fixture.
Group 2
Reigning Genero Adran North champions Connah’s Quay Nomads travel to face newly-promoted Wrexham Foresters at Stansty Park in Group 2.
Connah’s Quay stormed to the league title for the second consecutive year after going invincible, but missed out on promotion to the top-flight following a penalty shootout defeat to Cardiff Met in the promotion play-off. The Nomads also missed out on the Genero Adran Trophy last 16 for the first time ever last season following two group stage losses, so new manager Andy Griffiths will be hoping to ensure that is not the case this time around.
Wrexham Foresters had contrasting joy in their promotion play-off as they beat Llangefni Town on penalties in May to rise up to the second tier for the first time. Former Connah’s Quay captain Kirstie Kural is player-manager of the Foresters and will hope to haunt her old club this Sunday.
Just like the Nomads, the Foresters went unbeaten throughout their league campaign, scoring a staggering 162 goals in 18 games on their way to promotion.
Llandudno were the best performing Northern team in the Genero Adran Trophy group stage and they host Berriew at the Go Goodwins Stadium in their Group 2 opener.
Llandudno achieved maximum points to reach the round of 16 in style last season, but they were drawn away to eventual champions Wrexham, who claimed a 9-0 win. The Seasiders slipped to fifth in the Genero Adran North last season, winning just two games.
Berriew finished bottom of their group in their first ever Genero Adran Trophy experience last season, but maintaining a second tier status will give Regina Hanratty’s side the chance to improve in the competition this time around.
Llandudno earned a 3-1 win over Berriew in the final group stage matchday last season, but Berriew got revenge and completed the league double by securing 3-0 and 3-2 victories, with Dottie Evans scoring a brace in both encounters.
Group 3
Penybont and Pure Swansea meet at the DragonBet Stadium in Group 3 after both sides missed out on the knockout stage last season.
Significant investment throughout this summer has allowed Penybont to strengthen their squad massively, and they will have high hopes to go on a run in this competition and improve on their fourth-place finish in the Genero Adran South last season. Bont lost their opening two group matches last season, so will be eager to get off a bright start here.
Pure Swansea were quarter-finalists in the Genero Adran Trophy in 2024, but have finished third in their group for the past two seasons. Former Genero Adran Premier title-winning manager Chris Church has recruited five new signings this summer, including prolific striker Rianne Jones, who scored 11 goals in 13 senior matches last season.
Both sides traded blows in the Genero Adran South last season as the Swans earned a 3-1 win in January before Bont claimed a 3-1 victory of their own in March.
A new era begins at Cwmbran Celtic as manager Phil Schonbeck takes charge of his first competitive game against Cascade at the Motazone Arena in Group 3’s other fixture.
Genero Adran Trophy
Schonbeck was appointed Celtic boss last month after Georgia Schwartz moved into a full-time role at Cardiff City. Celtic, who were Bute Energy Welsh Cup semi-finalists last season, achieved their best ever points tally in the Genero Adran South in 2025/26 and were closest to knocking out a top-flight club in the round of 16 last season as they agonisingly conceded a stoppage-time goal in a narrow 3-2 defeat away to Briton Ferry Llansawel.
Cascade have progressed from the Genero Adran Trophy group stages in four out of the last five seasons, with an appearance in the quarter-finals in 2024/25. Kellan Webb has been appointed new manager, and he will look to build on Cascade’s impressive form in 2026, which has seen them go unbeaten across 90 minutes in all competitions so far.
Celtic beat Cascade 3-1 in the group stage last year before both teams played out a 2-2 draw and Cascade earned a 1-0 win in the Genero Adran South. Celtic also beat Cascade on penalties on their way to winning the Hugh James SWFA Cup.
Group 4
Newly-promoted Cambrian United mark their debut match in the competition with a home fixture against Carmarthen Town at Rhiw Dda’r in Group 4.
Cambrian finished as runners-up in the SWWGLlast season, but were promoted to the Genero Adran South following Taffs Well’s withdrawal from the league. The Rhondda side, who are managed by former Wales captain Claire O’Sullivan, did not lose a single league game on home turf in the third tier last season.
Carmarthen failed to earn a single point in the Genero Adran Trophy group stage last season, but the Old Gold had much more joy in the Genero Adran South as they finished as runners-up in their debut season in the second tier.
Flavia Jenkins, who starred for Carmarthen alongside her sister Ophelia last season, scored five goals across 3-0 and 7-0 wins for her side against Cambrian when both teams last met in the 2024/25 third tier.
The other newly-promoted team competing in Group 4 are Llanrumney United, who make the short trip to face Pontypridd United at USW Sports Park.
It has been an incredible rise for Llanrumney, who were only founded in 2024 and have now earned back-to-back promotions. Catherine Walsh’s side will be confident heading into their debut match in the Genero Adran Trophy after they won 19 out of 20 games on their way to lifting the SWWGL title last season.
Pontypridd were relegated from the Genero Adran Premier after failing to claim a single point throughout the campaign. Returning manager Drew Lewis will aim to turn things around in 2026/27 after his successful season with Ponty’s U19 side, who initially topped the first phase of Genero Adran South U19 league.
