JD Cymru Premier round-up: Caernarfon Town earn another comeback win to stay top

JD Cymru Premier leaders Caernarfon Town staged yet another comeback as they came from two goals down to win 5-2 win away at Briton Ferry Llansawel on Saturday.

Ferry were two goals up inside the first 19 minutes as Corey Hurford produced a delightful finish into the far top corner from the left hand side of the area before Tom Price pounced on a loose ball in the box with a clinical strike.

Matty Jones halved the deficit for the visitors shortly before half-time with a sweetly struck effort into the bottom corner from distance, before Adam Davies scored twice in the first 21 minutes of the second half – heading in from two Sion Bradley corners – to complete the turnaround.

Bradley was also involved in Caernarfon’s fourth goal in the 69th minute as Will Fuller could only parry the midfielder’s shot into the path of Dominic Smith to tap in. Josh Lock sealed victory six minutes later as he received a pass from Bradley and raced through the Ferry defence before coolly slotting home.

The New Saints marked manager Craig Harrison’s 400th game in charge of the club with an emphatic 6-0 victory over bottom-of-the-table Llanelli Town at Park Hall.

The champions led by two goals at the break after Jordan Williams headed home a loose ball in the box in the 10th minute and Ben Wilson’s header deflected in off Sean Cronin seven minutes later. A third headed goal arrived two minutes into the second half as Jack Bodenham met Ryan Brobbel’s corner.

Dan Williams played through Wilson to net his second of the game in the 69th minute, before Danny Davies added his name to the scoresheet by heading home Isaac Jefferies’ corner. Jefferies was again involved in the Saints’ sixth goal in stoppage time as his cross was turned in by Llanelli defender Sam Parsons.

Barry Town United earned their first league win since the opening day of the campaign as they triumphed 4-0 over Bala Town at Jenner Park.

Will Richards’ thumping header into the top corner from Robbie Willmott’s corner gave Barry an early lead, before Mikey George doubled the advantage just before half-time as he received Ryan Kavanagh’s defence-splitting pass and fired past Joel Torrance – the full-back’s first league goal at Jenner Park for over six years.

A third goal arrived on 66 minutes as Bala failed to clear Willmott’s free-kick and Ollie Hulbert pounced with a clever finish in the box, before Cardiff City loanee Morgan Wigley bagged his first Barry goal five minutes later by racing through the Lakesiders’ defence and finding the roof of the net in clinical fashion.

Bala had only conceded four league goals all season before the game but let in the same amount in one afternoon as Barry climbed into the top half.

Penybont moved up to third in the table with a comfortable 5-0 home win over Flint Town United.

Clayton Green opened the scoring after just 12 minutes as he turned home Nathan Wood’s low drive from close range, before James Crole doubled the advantage three minutes before half-time by heading Noah Daley’s cross into the bottom corner.

Nathan Wood scored his first league goal of the season with a low, curling strike from the edge of the box early in the second half, while Daley added his name to the scoresheet 10 minutes later by receiving Wood’s through ball and rounding Jack Flint to tap into an empty net.

Daley completed Bont’s biggest home win in 18 months with a looping header in the 81st minute after Flint failed to clear Wood’s corner.

Colwyn Bay made it back-to-back wins with a 3-0 victory against Haverfordwest County at the Blue Turtle Arena.

Louis Robles continued his bright recent form as he met Sam Hart’s cross and glanced home Bay’s opener with just nine minutes on the clock. Robles then turned provider on the half hour mark as his square ball found an unmarked Jordan Davies, who fired past Luc Rees.

Haverfordwest’s afternoon got worse four minutes later when defender Alaric Jones was shown a straight red card following a late challenge on Uniss Kargbo. Davies then rounded off an emphatic first half for Colwyn Bay soon after as he tucked away the rebound from Robles’ saved effort to complete a brace against his former club.

The Bluebirds improved after the break but could not get back into the contest, while they finished the game with nine men as Ben Fawcett was sent off for two yellow cards in quick succession in the 90th minute – the first for a foul on Kargbo and the second for kicking the ball away.

Haverfordwest have dropped into the relegation zone after Cardiff Met leapfrogged them by earning a 1-1 draw away at Connah’s Quay Nomads.

Jack Kenny put the Nomads ahead in the 15th minute as he met Abdi Sharif’s pinpoint cross and steered the ball beyond Kelland Absalom.

However, Met made their second half pressure count as Lewis Rees’ corner was headed in by Jake Morris in the 68th minute, but the Archers still remain without a league win this season. Nomads defender Dan Roberts was sent off deep into stoppage time after receiving a second yellow card.
