Ammanford’s unbeaten start to the JD Cymru South season came to an end at Ynys Park on Friday night as Trefelin triumphed 2-0 over Wyn Thomas’ side.
Tref captain Jordan Davies, who was sent off against Ammanford in the Welsh Blood Service League Cup a fortnight ago, opened the scoring on 35 minutes as his corner averted everybody inside the area and found a way into the net.
Luke Bowen continued his fine form by heading home his sixth goal of the season just four minutes into the second half, with a clean sheet ensuring victory for Trefelin who leapfrog Ammanford into third place.
Newport City are now the only remaining unbeaten side in the division after the Steelmen came from behind to earn a 3-1 victory over Pontypridd United at USW Sport Park on Friday.
Ponty led at the break thanks to Sam Johnson’s early strike, but Luke Cooper and Lathan Garrett completed a quickfire turnaround for the visitors as they both scored in the opening 18 minutes of the second half.

Garrett then curled home from Richard Noyes’ cleared cross for his second and Newport’s third of the evening to seal all three points in the 70th minute. Sam Houldsworth’s side are now up to second in the table.
JD Cymru South leaders Cambrian United returned to winning ways in style with a 4-0 victory over Afan Lido at the M&P Group 3G on Friday night.
Liam Eason provided two assists in the first half as he delivered low crosses into Dylan Edwards and Calum Bateman, who both made no mistake in applying finishes at the near post. Eason then got himself on the scoresheet four minutes into the second half as he picked out the top corner with a stunning strike from distance to bag his 10th goal of the season.
Teenager Cody Williams marked his first league start for Cambrian with his first senior goal as he put the game to bed on 65 minutes with a composed strike beyond Ben Haines.
Jonathan Evans marked his return to Aberystwyth Town with both goals in a 2-0 victory over Cwmbran Celtic at Park Avenue on Saturday.

Evans, who has rejoined the Seasiders on loan from Briton Ferry Llansawel, took just 20 minutes to make an impact as he raced onto Desean Martin’s long ball and lobbed Lewis Watkins.
That early opener remained the difference for over 70 minutes, but Evans sealed the three points in stoppage time as he made no mistake in finishing the rebound from Gwydion Dafis’ saved effort. The only dampener for Aber was a straight red card for Ben Davies in the closing stages for his reaction to a foul on Dafis.
Trethomas Bluebirds climbed into the top half with a 4-1 victory over Ynyshir Albions at the CCB Centre on Saturday.
Jay Thomas put the Bluebirds ahead on 19 minutes, before Brandon Griffiths scored for the second game in succession since joining from Caerau Ely as he latched onto goalkeeper Suleimane Susso’s long ball upfield and fired home shortly before half time.
Ynyshir halved the deficit in the 64th minute through Calum Salter, but Trethomas restored their two-goal cushion just six minutes later thanks to Josh Williams’ header. The hosts sealed victory in stoppage time when Haben Samson was fouled inside the area and stepped up to calmly convert the resulting penalty.

Carmarthen Town captain Liam Thomas salvaged a point for his side in a 1-1 draw with Treowen Stars at the LHP Stadium on Friday.
The Stars, who had midfielder Macsen Evans in goal due to injuries to all of their goalkeepers, were ahead inside just 12 minutes as Carmarthen defender Morgan Weaver turned the ball into his own net. However, Thomas popped up on 73 minutes to level the contest.
Cardiff Draconians kept their first clean sheet of the season in a goalless draw away at Baglan Dragons on Saturday.
Both sides pushed for a breakthrough, but the defences ultimately prevailed as the Dragons drew for the fourth consecutive league match and the Dracs made it seven points from their last three games.
There was also nothing to separate Caerau Ely and Llantwit Major in a goalless stalemate at Cwrt yr Ala Road on Friday night.
The hosts were awarded a penalty in the closing stages, but Major goalkeeper Ryley Allen made the save to keep his clean sheet intact.
