Caernarfon Town’s unbeaten start to the JD Cymru Premier season came to an end on Saturday evening as Penybont triumphed 2-1 over the Cofis at the Go Goodwins Stadium.
The contest remained goalless for over an hour in wet and windy conditions, but Bont forward Noah Daley found the breakthrough on 62 minutes as he picked up a loose ball on the edge of the box, jinked past Adam Davies and fired past Connor Roberts.
Daley doubled the advantage in the 78th minute as he played a neat one-two with Gabe Kircough before producing another clinical finish for his seventh goal in six league games this season.
Adam Davies capitalised on a short back pass from Mael Davies to pull a goal back for Caernarfon with six minutes remaining, before the striker thought he had equalised in stoppage time only for the offside flag to be raised.

Caernarfon’s defeat means that The New Saints are top of the table – on goal difference – for the first time this season following their 3-1 triumph away at Cardiff Met on Friday night.
Saints defender Danny Davies scored for the second consecutive game as he steered the ball home from Dominic Corness’ delivery in the 15th minute. However, Met equalised just two minutes later as Fumpa Mwandwe went on a superb solo run before playing through former TNS striker Adam Roscrow who finished under Nathan Shepperd.
The champions restored their lead on the half hour mark as Ben Wilson slammed home a loose ball from Dan Williams’ blocked low cross, while Rory Holden added a third goal in first half stoppage time as his cross-turned-shot could not be kept out by Met goalkeeper Kelland Absalom.

Connah’s Quay Nomads returned to winning ways with a 3-1 victory away at struggling Haverfordwest County on Saturday.
The Nomads took the lead after just 13 minutes through teenager Callum West, who scored his first goal for the club by firing home the rebound after Harry Franklin’s header hit the crossbar.
Haverfordwest were level just before the half hour mark though as Franklin fouled Rhys Abbruzzese in the box and Ben Ahmun stepped up to convert the resulting penalty.
Rhys Hughes restored the Nomads’ advantage midway through the second half with a trademark curling strike from the edge of the area, while Haverfordwest were reduced to 10 men moments later as Ahmun was shown a second yellow card for a foul on Dan Cowan.

Bluebirds boss Tony Pennock was also sent off late on as he received two quick yellow cards for his protests, before Hughes sealed victory for the Nomads in the 90th minute by tapping in Franklin’s square pass.
Briton Ferry Llansawel twice came from behind to salvage a 2-2 draw with Bala Town at Maes Tegid on Friday night.
Bala forward Liam Higgins struck the post from close range moments into the contest, but the Lakesiders were eventually rewarded for their early pressure as Dom McGiveron’s deflected effort from distance wrongfooted Ferry goalkeeper Will Fuller to earn the lead after 12 minutes.
However, Ferry also received a piece of good fortune as Tom Price’s volley from outside the area deflected beyond Joel Torrance to level the contest four minutes before half-time.

Higgins restored Bala’s lead on 52 minutes as he fired home from John Owen’s square ball, but Ferry were level again just six minutes later as Ruben Davies provided a simple finish on the rebound from Tom Walters’ saved low drive.
Llanelli Town earned their first point of the campaign in a goalless draw with Colwyn Bay at Stebonheath Park on Saturday.
Bay had a glorious opportunity to take the lead when they were awarded a penalty in the 20th minute following a foul on Uniss Kargbo. However, Louis Robles’ effort from 12 yards was denied by Alex Pennock, who was making his home debut for the Reds.
Pennock produced a couple of other key stops to keep his clean sheet intact, while Alex Bonthron had a header cleared off the line at the opposite end early in the second half. Llanelli remain bottom of the table but are now four points adrift of safety, while Bay are unbeaten in their last five matches and stay in fifth place.

It also finished goalless between Flint Town United and Barry Town United at the Essity Stadium on Saturday.
Ollie Hulbert nearly found a breakthrough for Barry in the first half but his fierce effort was denied by the crossbar, while Darren Stephenson and Mikey Burke both saw efforts fly narrowly wide for the hosts.
Flint were awarded a penalty in the 86th minute after Ben Margetson fouled Jake Canavan in the box, but Josh Jones saw his effort from 12 yards cannon off the post as the two sides claimed a point each.
