Trethomas Bluebirds made it three wins from three games in the JD Cymru South this season as they triumphed 3-2 away at Ammanford on Saturday afternoon.
Bluebirds striker Gareth Tedstone opened the scoring after 27 minutes with his fourth goal of the campaign already but Ammanford swiftly equalised through Adam John, only for Leon Thomas to restore the visitors’ lead two minutes before half-time.
Things got even better for the Bluebirds three minutes after the restart as Ethan Edwards latched onto Tom Gameson’s low ball and tucked away his side’s third of the afternoon.
Tristan Jenkins pulled a goal back for Ammanford with two minutes remaining when scored on the rebound after seeing his penalty saved, but the Bluebirds held on to claim another impressive three points.
Mark Dunford’s side are now the only side in the division with a perfect record still intact after Pontypridd United dropped points for the first time this season in a 3-1 defeat to Cambrian United at USW Sports Park on Friday night.
Cambrian’s summer signing Liam Warman slotted his side ahead with 18 minutes on the clock, but Liam Eason – who joined Pontypridd from the Cam Army last month – equalised against his former club early in the second half for his fifth goal of the season.
A second yellow card for Ponty defender Ash Evans just after the hour mark swung the game in the visitors’ favour, with former Llanelli duo Josh Allen and Tom Hillman combining for the latter to restore the lead before Jack Fox’s stunning strike wrapped up the win.Â
Rio Booth scored a stoppage-time winner as Carmarthen Town won 3-2 against Baglan Dragons in a thrilling finish at the LHP Stadium on Friday night.
The scoreline was level at 1-1 after 80 minutes after Jay Thomas cancelled out Gavin Jones’ early opener, before Carmarthen captain Noah Daley restored his side’s lead with five minutes to play only for the Dragons to equalise once again as Tom Davies calmly dispatched his penalty.
That looked to have earned the visitors a point, but Booth – a summer arrival from Pontardawe Town – had other plans as his clinical finish in the first minute of stoppage time secured all three points for Carmarthen.
Keane Watts continued to excel for Goytre United as hit hat-trick inspired his side to an emphatic 5-1 victory over Penrhiwceiber Rangers at Glasbrook Field on Saturday.
Watts, who also scored in Goyt’s win over Rangers in the Nathaniel MG Cup last month, opened the scoring on the half hour mark with his strike from close range. Captain Jordan Edwards doubled the lead after an hour, before Watts rounded Penrhiwceiber goalkeeper Jacob Ireland to make it three soon after.
The hosts found a lifeline on 70 minutes through Owen Orford, but Watts completed his hat-trick and restored his side’s three-goal lead eight minutes later by slotting into the bottom corner. Substitute Leon Rayner added a fifth for the visitors a minute later after.
Goytre are now third in the table with six points, the same as fourth-place Trefelin who triumphed 3-1 away at Cwmbran Celtic on Saturday.
Roan Piper scored twice from the penalty spot inside the opening 16 minutes to put Trefelin in control, while Steffan Jenkins marked his first league start of the campaign with the third goal of the game just before half-time.
Piper had the chance to complete a hat-trick of penalties five minutes into the second half, but this time he was denied from the spot by Iwan Hooper.
Last season’s JD Cymru South top scorer Alex Bonthron got Celtic on the scoresheet as he headed home from Isaac Powell’s cross on 85 minutes, but it was only a consolation for the hosts who continue to look for their first point of the campaign.
Caerau Ely claimed their first league win of the season as they earned a comfortable 3-0 victory at Taffs Well on Friday night.
The Young Guns held onto a narrow one-goal lead for the majority of the match after Jac Davies scored in the 14th minute, before substitute Charlie Lewis found the net on 70 minutes and captain Jack Ashford wrapped up the win from the penalty spot.
Henry Jones’ strike salvaged a point for Llanelli Town against Llantwit Major in a 2-2 draw at the Windmill Ground.
Lewis Iles’ first goal for the Reds gave them the perfect start in the 12th minute, but the Major had turned the game around by the half hour mark through a header from Josh Morgan and a strike from Matty Kimmins who capitalised on a defensive mistake.
Llanelli were made to work for their equaliser, but eventually found a way through the Major defence as Jones poked the ball home from on the line to rescue a point on the road.
Nothing could separate Afan Lido and Newport City either as both sides came away with a point apiece in a 1-1 draw at Princess Margaret Way.
Liam Griffiths’ powerful header put Lido in front after just eight minutes, but their lead did not last long as Newport quickly responded and grabbed their equaliser as Luke Cooper turned home Richard Noyes’ cross for his second goal in three matches.
