Trethomas Bluebirds dropped points for the first time in the JD Cymru South this season as Callum Saunders scored a dramatic late equaliser to earn Trefelin a 2-2 draw away from home.
The two sides occupied the top two spots in the division ahead of kick off, but it was the league-leading Bluebirds who were 2-0 up after 51 minutes thanks to a brace from Ethan Edwards.
However, veteran striker Lee Trundle continued his red hot form for Trefelin by halving the deficit on 64 minutes, before Saunders struck in the fifth minute of stoppage time to salvage a draw for his team.
There was also stoppage time drama at Rhiw Dda’r as Taffs Well claimed a 2-1 victory against Cwmbran Celtic.
Alex Bonthron latched onto strike partner Tom Meechan’s corner to give Celtic the lead in the 55th minute, but a calmly dispatched penalty from Sam Johnson brought Taffs Well level almost instantly.
Johnson turned provider for the winning goal in the 95th minute as he set up David Lyons to fire in and secure three points for the Wellmen.
Cambrian United moved up to second in the table with a 1-0 home win against Penrhiwceiber Rangers, who continue to look for their first win of the campaign.
The decisive moment came in the 23rd minute when a swift counter attack from the Cam Army saw Finley Skiverton square the ball for Abdul Ibrahim, who sent a brilliant half-volley into the bottom corner.
Substitute Harry Davies scored a late equaliser to salvage a 2-2 draw for Baglan Dragons at home against Llanelli Town.
The Dragons went ahead midway through the first half thanks to Craig Wilcox’s powerful strike, but Llanelli turned the game around in the space of 12 second half minutes through Joe Hunt and Ethan Cann.
However, Davies – who had only been on the pitch for eight minutes – popped up with a late leveller to rescue a point. Llanelli remain unbeaten but have now drawn four out of their first five matches in the JD Cymru South this season.
Llantwit Major produced a late comeback to win 3-1 away at Afan Lido, who remain without a league win to their name this season.
Lido went ahead in the 71st minute thanks to Jon Hood’s superb strike from the edge of the area, but their lead lasted barely 60 seconds as Tom Walbeoff headed home an equaliser.
The visitors took control of the game from that point on, with Joel Woodington putting them in front in the 86thminute before Tom Tweedy added a third goal in stoppage time.
Wyn Thomas’ first match as permanent Ammanford boss ended in a 3-2 home defeat to Carmarthen Town.
It was a nightmare start for Thomas and his side as the Old Gold raced into a three-goal lead inside 17 minutes thanks to Gavin Jones, Noah Daley and Toby Jones.
Nonetheless, Adam Morgan, who had been on the pitch for two minutes after replacing the injured Adam John, gave Ammanford a glimmer of hope with his close-range finish on 22 minutes.
Callum Jones’ header two minutes into the second half increased Ammanford’s hopes of a comeback, but they could not find an equaliser.
Liam Eason continued his impressive early season goalscoring form as he netted the winner in Pontypridd United’s 1-0 home victory over Caerau Ely.
Eason’s goal arrived inside just three minutes as he latched onto Dan Griffiths’ assist and slotted the ball home. The Young Guns tried to find a way back into the match, but an impressive goalkeeping performance from Ponty debutant Cameron Clarke ensured The Dragons secured all three points.
