Holywell Town scored a stoppage time equaliser to salvage a 2-2 draw against fellow JD Cymru North promotion hopefuls Newtown at Latham Park on Saturday.

Louis Jacobs scored his fourth goal in his last three leagues games to put Newtown ahead on 52 minutes, but Holywell equalised just seven minutes later when Robins defender Jolyon Harries turned Jamie Breese’s low ball into his own net.

Jamie Hyne restored the hosts’ lead in the 77th minute by bundling the ball home from a corner, but Nathan Leonard’s side were denied all three points in the sixth minute of stoppage time when as Holywell captain Danny Sullivan met James Stead’s free-kick delivery and sent a bullet header into the net.

The point took Holywell up to second in the table, while Newtown remain fourth but are now only outside the promotion spots on goal difference.

Airbus UK Broughton suffered their first ever home defeat in the JD Cymru North as Denbigh Town claimed a late 3-2 victory at the Hollingsworth Group Stadium on Friday night.

Alfie Vaughan smashed the ball home from Gwion Dafydd’s low cross to put Denbigh ahead in the 23rd minute, but Airbus came from behind to lead at the break courtesy of strikes from Jordan Evans and George Peers.

However, Denbigh continued to impress and were back on level terms just before the hour mark when Dafydd met Dan Flanders’ cross and headed home.

The visitors then snatched the win – their first away from home since August – in dramatic fashion in the 89thminute as Nathan Brown stood over a free-kick from 40 yards out and sent a remarkable strike flying past Keighan Jones.

With all of their promotion rivals dropping points, it was a good weekend for Llandudno – whose game against Guilsfield was postponed. The Seasiders are now one point clear at the top of the table, with two games in hand over the teams below them.

Connor Owen scored a hat-trick as Holyhead Hotspur earned a 3-0 home win over Gresford Athletic on Saturday.

Owen sprinted to reach Jamie Jones’ pass down the left hand side before driving a low effort into the bottom corner to open the scoring after just nine minutes.

Gresford were a goal down and then a man down in the 52nd minute when Haci Ozlu was shown a straight red card for dissent.

Nonetheless, Holyhead could not add to their lead until the final 10 minutes when Owen completed his treble. After heading home from Jack Walsh’s cross, the striker finished from close range after his initial effort had been saved.
