JD Cymru North round-up | Llandudno and Denbigh Town snatch stoppage time wins

Omar Ibrahim scored a dramatic stoppage time winner to earn Llandudno a 3-2 victory at home against Llay Miners Welfare in a crunch clash in the JD Cymru North relegation zone on Saturday.

It was Welfare who grabbed the opening goal with just seven minutes on the clock courtesy of Jonathan Collo’s neat finish, but Llandudno turned the game on its head early in the second half as Adam Stephens and Harvey Bennett found the net within three minutes of each other.

The visitors looked to have salvaged a point when substitute Cavan Daley equalised in the 90th minute, but Ibrahim – who had also come off the bench – stepped up in the sixth minute of stoppage time to snatch a massive three points for the Seasiders.

There was more drama after the final whistle, with Ibrahim and Welfare forward Ruben Lima both sent off following an altercation.

There were also thrilling stoppage time scenes on Friday night as Denbigh Town won 4-3 in scintillating encounter away at Bangor 1876.

Denbigh frontman Nathan Brown marked his 26th birthday by opening the scoring after just eight minutes, before Owen Davies doubled the advantage nine minutes later as he tapped home from Sam Duffy’s low ball.

Bangor had got themselves level by the hour mark as Tom Clarke and Mason Blackwell-Jones scored either side of half-time, but Denbigh restored their lead in the 66th minute as substitute Paul Fleming – who had only been on the pitch for three minutes – produced a clinical strike from inside the area.

Joe Culshaw fired home a loose ball to get Bangor back on terms once more in the 78th minute, which appeared to have earned his side a point. That was until the fifth minute of stoppage time when Denbigh substitute Harrison Bellis popped up to prod in his first goal for the club in dramatic fashion to clinch victory.

League leaders Airbus UK Broughton maintained their four-point lead at the top of the table with a 3-0 victory over Mold Alexandra at Alyn Park on Saturday.

Airbus ensured they took home all three points when substitute Ollie Lanceley, who had only been on the pitch for five minutes, latched on to Baker’s through ball and made no mistake one-on-one with Joe Smith with 13 minutes remaining.

Gwion Dafydd’s four-goal haul inspired second-place Colwyn Bay to a 5-0 victory away to Guilsfield on Saturday.

The teenage striker, on loan from The New Saints, scored a hat-trick in the first half – a close-range tap-in, a curled effort into the bottom corner and a penalty in stoppage time.

Dafydd had a goal disallowed for offside just one minute into the second half, but his fourth of the afternoon did arrive in the 76th minute as he sent another composed finish past Luke Evans.

It was a surprise not to see Craig Lindfield start at Clos Mytton, but he came off the bench to round off the win in stoppage time with his ninth goal of the season.

Holywell Town lost for the second time in three games as Flint Mountain came from behind to triumph 2-1 at the Bartons North Wales Stadium on Saturday.

Holywell made the perfect start when Danny Andrews produced a clinical finish inside just three minutes, but Mountain levelled 12 minutes later as Rob Hughes scored from the penalty spot.

The visitors’ comeback was complete seven minutes before half-time as Mike Hayes latched onto Jack Sconce’s through ball and fired beyond Ryan Woods.

Mountain were reduced to 10 men early in the second half as Aaron Simpson was sent off for a foul on Jamie Breese, but Aden Shannon’s produced a solid defensive display to hold on to all three points.

Gresford Athletic earned a first away win since August as they triumphed 2-0 away to bottom side Prestatyn Town on Saturday.

It was a dream start for the Colliers as Ilan Ap Gareth’s first goal for the club put them ahead after just nine minutes played.

With Prestatyn threatening an equaliser, Gresford scored a crucial second goal shortly after the hour mark when Dave Forbes brought down Josh Watkin’s cross and fired superbly past Rob Williams.

The visitors’ afternoon was made worse six minutes later when Patrick Hamid received a straight red card, all but confirming their fourth successive league defeat.

Caersws made it back-to-back home wins for the first time since August 2023 as they secured a 3-0 victory over Buckley Town on Saturday.

Max McLaughlin scored for the third league game in a row to put the Bluebirds firmly in control early in the second half, while Buckley’s nightmare afternoon was capped by Nick Grogan’s sending off in the closing stages.
