Trethomas Bluebirds maintained their two-point lead at the top of the JD Cymru South table with a 3-1 home win over Goytre United on Friday night.
The struggling visitors were hoping for a new manager bounce after the appointment of Stephen Kelleher in midweek, but the Bluebirds opened the scoring inside five minutes as Gareth Tedstone scored his 12th league goal of the season. Ethan Edwards got the assist and he also set up Lee Baldock to double the advantage three minutes before half-time.
Kyran Steadman halved the deficit for Goytre with a header on 65 minutes, but a superb strike from outside of the box from Tom Gameson seven minutes later ensured a fourth consecutive win for the league leaders.
Second-place Llanelli Town remain hot on the Bluebirds’ tails following a 1-0 win away to Afan Lido on Friday night.
After a goalless first half, Llanelli found the breakthrough nine minutes into the second half when new signing Liam Eason delivered a cross to Danny Williams who controlled on his chest and volleyed home.

Lido had a glorious chance to equalise through Jon Hood, who raced in on Travis James’ teasing low cross, but had his effort denied by a superb save from Scott Coughlin.
Pontypridd United’s title hopes were dealt a blow by a 2-0 home defeat to Newport City on Friday night.
The Steelmen opened the scoring five minutes into the second half as Danny Hillman – on his first start after signing for the club – sent a thumping header beyond Cameron Clarke from Richard Noyes’ corner.
The visitors then made the most of a swift counter-attack on 68 minutes as Louis Phillips drifted through a number of Ponty defenders before slotting home for his fourth goal of the campaign.
Ponty’s woes increased seven minutes later when captain Jarrad Wright was sent off for a second bookable offence, while defeat leaves Andy Whittington’s side seven points adrift of top spot.
Noah Daley scored twice as Carmarthen Town made it four straight victories with a 2-0 win away to Llantwit Major on Saturday.
Daley calmly converted a penalty inside just six minutes to give his side an early lead, which remained the difference for over an hour until the 75th minute when he struck again for his eighth goal in four games in 2025.
Nine-man Baglan Dragons triumphed on home soil for the first time since October as early goals from Nathan Logan and Dylan Thomas proved enough to beat Caerau Ely 2-1 on Saturday.

Logan fired the Dragons ahead after just seven minutes, before he turned provider to set up Dylan Thomas for a second goal nine minutes later.
Remarkably, goalscorers Logan and Thomas were both sent off in the second half after second bookable offences, which offered Caerau Ely a route back into the contest.
Brandon Griffiths did give the Young Guns a late glimmer of hope with his strike in the 87th minute, but Baglan were able to see out a nervy ending to pick up all three points.
Ammanford made it back-to-back wins as Lewis Reed’s late strike secured a 1-0 victory over Cambrian United at The Rec on Saturday.
Wyn Thomas’ side went close to taking the lead on the hour mark as Morgan Clarke’s effort from distance struck the crossbar, while they thought they had been awarded a penalty with 10 minutes remaining before the referee changed his decision to a free-kick on the edge of the box.
However, the opener eventually arrived on 87 minutes as Reed was in the right place at the right time to poke home after Cambrian goalkeeper Morgan Davies could only parry Rhys Davies’ effort. Victory means that Ammanford are now only one point behind the Cam Army in the table.
In the weekend’s only game in the JD Cymru North, Llandudno rose to fifth in the table with a 4-0 home win over Guilsfield.

Captain Anthony Stephens opened the scoring in the 18th minute, finishing smartly from close range after Guilsfield failed to deal with Michael Davies’ long throw into the box.
Callum Stephens came on for his Llandudno debut in the 50th minute and found the net two minutes later, heading in from his cousin Anthony’s free-kick. A remarkable afternoon for the Stephens family was complete soon after as Adam Stephens – brother of Callum – received Kieran Baker’s delightful cross and fired home a low drive.
Mark Cadwallader completed the scoring with 11 minutes left on the clock as he got on the end of Anthony Stephens’ cross at the back post and poked in a fourth goal.
