JD Cymru Premier round-up: Daley completes hat-trick to earn late Penybont win

Noah Daley scored a dramatic stoppage time winner to complete his hat-trick and earn Penybont a 3-2 victory over Barry Town United at Jenner Park in the JD Cymru Premier.

Barry captain Callum Sainty gave his side the lead on 35 minutes by heading home from Robbie Willmott’s corner, but Daley immediately responded for Bont as his deflected volley wrongfooted George Ratcliffe.

Daley put the visitors in front for the first time just before the hour mark as he received Alexander Cvetkovic’s through ball and coolly fired past Ratcliffe, but Barry levelled the contest again 11 minutes later when Dan Smith was hauled over in the box by Gabe Kircough and Ryan Kavanagh converted the resulting penalty.

The entertaining encounter was heading for a stalemate until Daley provided the winner for Penybont in the 94th minute. Kane Owen whipped in a delivery from the left, Kircough headed back across goal and Daley nodded home to bag a treble on his league debut for the club and send the away fans into raptures.

Briton Ferry Llansawel continued their strong start to the season by coming from two goals down to triumph 4-2 away at Llanelli Town.

Llanelli had lost their opening two matches but were 2-0 inside 16 minutes thanks to Danny Williams’ penalty – following Tom Price’s handball in the box – and Ethan Cann’s tap in.

Tom Walters quickly pulled a goal back for Ferry by bundling the ball home from close range in the midst of a goalmouth scramble, before Corey Hurford levelled the game eight minutes before half-time with a superb piece of skill to beat his man on the byline and a clever finish from a tight angle.

Ruben Davies continued his impressive start to the season with a superb solo goal to put Ferry in front for the first time on 54 minutes, before more skilful work from Hurford set up Walters to flick in his second of the night just after the hour mark.

Caernarfon Town remain top of the embryonic JD Cymru Premier table following a 5-2 victory over Flint Town United at the Essity Stadium.

It was a frantic first seven minutes as new Flint signing Jake Canavan haunted his former club with a sweetly struck effort into the top corner, only for Paulo Mendes to instantly equalise with a close range header.

Zack Clarke fired into the roof of the net to put the Cofis in front on 31 minutes, but Flint found a leveller shortly before half-time as Elliott Reeves opened his account for the new season with a poacher’s finish from Josh Jones’ square ball.

However, the Cofis took control of the contest in the second half as Iwan Lewis rifled home in emphatic fashion to put the visitors ahead once again in the 52nd minute.

Richard Davies’ side put the game to bed in the closing stages as Mendes produced a stunning first-time strike into the top corner from distance, before in-form Adam Davies built on his hat-trick against Llanelli last weekend by curling beyond Jack Flint.

Cardiff Met came from two goals down to earn a 2-2 draw with Haverfordwest County at Ogi Bridge Meadow.

Ben Ahmun tapped home Dan Hawkins’ cross at the back post to give the hosts the lead after just 12 minutes, before the striker turned provider eight minutes later by cutting the ball back for Corey Shephard to slot home.

Whatever was said in the Cardiff Met dressing room at half-time clearly worked, as the Archers were remarkably level within the first two minutes of the second half. Jasper Payne bullied Kyle McCarthy off the ball and buried a low drive into the bottom corner, before Ryan Reynolds was given time and space to pick out the bottom corner with a finessed strike.

Shephard and Ahmun both went close to restoring Haverfordwest’s lead but could not do so, before Bluebirds captain Dylan Rees was sent off in stoppage time after being shown a second yellow card for throwing the ball at Met’s CJ Craven. Tony Pennock was also shown a red card following the full time whistle for airing his frustrations.

Ben Wilson and Jordan Williams were the goalscorers as The New Saints defeated Connah’s Quay Nomads

Champions The New Saints earned their first home league win of the season by triumphing 3-0 over Connah’s Quay Nomads at Park Hall.

TNS were gifted the lead inside just six minutes as a tame back pass from Dan Cowan saw Ben Wilson beat Kit Margetson to the loose ball and square for Jordan Williams to finish into an empty net.

Wilson scored for the second consecutive game with a looping header from Ryan Brobbel’s cross just after the half hour mark, while Williams completed his brace and wrapped up victory by cutting in from the right and firing home with 10 minutes remaining.

Dom McGiveron’s stunning early strike proved enough to give Bala Town a hard-fought 1-0 home win over Colwyn Bay.

The decisive moment at Maes Tegid arrived with just 11 minutes on the clock as McGiveron received a pass from Jacob Tarasenko on the edge of the area and produced a powerful effort, which found the net via the inside of the post.

Bay had chances to equalise through attacking trio Louis Robles, Jordan Davies and Aaron Williams, but Bala goalkeeper Joel Torrance was equal to each attempt to keep his clean intact and help Steve Fisher earn his first league win as Lakesiders manager.
