Cardiff Met climbed to the top of the JD Cymru Premier table with an emphatic 5-1 victory over Briton Ferry Llansawel at Old Road.
The Archers scored twice in the final five minutes of the first half to take control of the contest – Ryan Reynolds’ deflected strike broke the deadlock before Matthew Chubb’s header doubled the advantage.
Lewis Rees added a third with his low drive from the edge of the area on 61 minutes, before CJ Craven put the game to bed six minutes later as he powered a header beyond Alex Pennock.
Former Met midfielder Tom Price scored Ferry’s first goal in the top-flight in the 84th minute, but the visitors still had time to add to their own tally as teenage substitute Jake Morris made it five in stoppage time.
Caernarfon Town also produced a dominant display away from home, triumphing 4-0 over Newtown at Latham Park.
The Cofis went in front after just six minutes as Phil Mooney steered the ball home from Joe Faux’s cross, but they did not add to their lead until the 69th minute when Adam Davies guided home a precise header.
Substitute Zack Clarke made it three in the 89th minute by tapping home from close range after Newtown goalkeeper Alex Swindell had spilled the ball, before the win was wrapped up in the fourth minute of stoppage as a shot cannoned off Shane Sutton into his own net.
Osebi Abadaki and George Newell combined twice as Bala Town continued their bright start to the season with a 2-0 win over Flint Town United at Maes Tegid.
After a host of missed opportunities, Bala eventually found the breakthrough six minutes before half-time as Abadaki found space on the right and squared the ball for Newell to tap into an empty net.
Newell grabbed the Lakesiders’ all-important second goal in the 83rd minute when he latched onto another pass from Abadaki and calmly guided his effort from close range into the bottom corner.
Aberystwyth Town earned their first league victory of the season by triumphing 1-0 over Barry Town United at Park Avenue.
The decisive moment came in the 33rd minute when Louis Bradford flicked on a corner to Jonathan Evans, who produced a clever acrobatic finish from close range which Barry goalkeeper Liam Armstrong got a hand to but could not keep out.
Penybont kept their fourth consecutive clean sheet in all competitions in a 0-0 draw with Haverfordwest County at the LHP Stadium.
Perhaps the best chance of the match fell to Owain Jones six minutes from time, but the Bluebirds midfielder’s fierce effort was denied by a diving save from Bont goalkeeper Adam Przybek.
