Reigning JD Cymru Premier champions The New Saints bounced back from their shock opening weekend defeat with a 2-0 win away at last season’s runners-up Penybont on Saturday.

Keen to put the 3-0 loss to Briton Ferry Llansawel out of their minds, TNS took the lead after just 12 minutes when Dan Williams unleashed a superb strike from distance that Bont goalkeeper Luke Armstrong got a hand to but could not keep out.

Chances were few and far between for either side but the visitors eventually wrapped up victory in the 72ndminute as Dom Corness clipped the ball over the top to substitute Ben Wilson and the TNS record signing chipped Armstrong for his first league goal for the club.

Adam Davies scored a hat-trick as Caernarfon Town stormed to an emphatic 6-1 victory over Llanelli Town at the Go Goodwins Stadium on Saturday.

Zack Clarke’s cross was headed home by Davies for Caernarfon’s opening goal on 38 minutes, before Clarke doubled the lead from the penalty spot in first half stoppage time after Dom Smith was fouled by James Lester in the box.

There was no let up from the Cofis after the break as Ryan Sears headed home Iwan Lewis’ cross for his first goal for the club on 47 minutes, while Davies bundled the ball in from Danny Gosset’s corner to make it 4-0 two minutes later.

After Gosset had crashed the crossbar with a dipping volley, Davies turned provider by slipping in substitute Connor Evans to cooly finish beyond Mike Lewis on 69 minutes.

Sean Cronin turned in Tristan Jenkins’ corner for Llanelli’s first goal since promotion in the 85th minute, but Davies completed his hat-trick with a low strike into the far corner in stoppage time to make it six for new league leaders Caernarfon – the most goals they have scored in a JD Cymru Premier match for two decades.

The points were shared at The Renewable Centre Stadium on Friday night as Briton Ferry Llansawel and Cardiff Met played out a 1-1 draw.

Ruben Davies continued his impressive start to the season by opening the scoring six minutes before half-time, latching onto Tom Walters’ perfectly weighted through ball and slotting beyond Kelland Absalom.

Met’s equaliser arrived nine minutes into the second half when Jasper Payne haunted his former side with a fierce low drive in the box after neat footwork from Lewis Rees.

It also finished 1-1 between Barry Town United and Colwyn Bay in Saturday’s early kick-off at Jenner Park.

The Seagulls made the perfect start to the contest as Aaron Williams tapped home on the line from Sol Forde’s header back across goal after just three minutes.

However, Barry were level on 17 minutes as Robbie Willmott timed his run to latch onto Ieuan Owen’s through ball and calmly slot past Rhys Williams for his first Linnets goal.

Barry dominated the chances for the remainder of the encounter, with Ollie Hulbert and Mikey George both seeing attempts denied on the line, but Steve Jenkins’ side could not find a winner.

Connah’s Quay Nomads v Bala Town and Flint Town United v Haverfordwest County were both postponed due to a burst water main in Flintshire which left communities without a water supply.
