Cambrian United moved to the top of the JD Cymru South table with a 3-2 home win over Ammanford on Friday night.
The opening goal arrived inside 11 minutes when a long throw-in was not dealt with by Ammanford, allowing Tom Hillman to fire the Cam Army ahead. Jack Fox then doubled the lead early in the second half with a sweetly-struck volley from the edge of the area.
Adam John pulled a goal back for the visitors, but Josh Allen immediately restored the two-goal cushion with a fine finish from distance. John scored again for Ammanford in the 85th minute, but Cambrian held on to claim all three points.
Trethomas Bluebirds slipped from top spot for the first time since August as they suffered their first away defeat of the season by losing 2-0 at Carmarthen Town on Saturday.
Captain Noah Daley found the breakthrough for the hosts in the 29th minute as he capitalised on a goalkeeper error from Harry Irving and tapped home for his seventh league goal of the season.
Jordan Vickers wrapped up the victory with a superb free-kick in the 79th minute, his first league goal since December 2022. Carmarthen are now up to second in the table, ahead of the Bluebirds in third on goal difference.
Teenager Jack Prosser was the hero for Cwmbran Celtic as his brace inspired a 3-2 comeback win over Caerau Ely at Avondale Park on Saturday.
Ollie Redhead fired Caerau Ely ahead three minutes into the second half and the visitors were handed a further boost when Josh Hinwood was shown a red card in the 73rd minute.
However, Celtic substitute Prosser sent a clinical finish beyond Exauce Dimonekene to make 1-1 six minutes later, before Caerau Ely were also reduced to 10 men as Luke Davies was sent off for a second bookable offence in the 88th minute.
Celtic immediately took advantage as Prosser set up Cole Doolan to make it 2-1 to the hosts, but the Young Guns appeared to have salvaged a point when Clayton Farrah equalised in the first minute of stoppage time.
Yet there was more drama to come as Prosser scored again two minutes later to steal victory – a third consecutive home league win for Simon Berry’s side.
Llanelli Town suffered their first league defeat of the season as Newport City teenager Louis Phillips popped up with a dramatic stoppage time winner to earn the Steelmen a 3-2 comeback win at Stebonheath Park on Friday.
The Reds made the perfect start to the game as Ethan Cann and Henry Jones put them two goals to the good after just 10 minutes, but Owen Cuddihy immediately halved the deficit with his first goal of the season before Ethan Wynne’s strike drew Newport level six minutes before half-time.
Phillips came on midway through the second half for only his fourth league appearance for the club and found the winner in the sixth minute of stoppage time after he was played through by Josh Graham and made no mistake finishing past Scott Coughlan.
There was also stoppage time drama at Rhiw Dda’r as Lee Trundle’s late equaliser salvaged a 3-3 draw for Trefelin away to Taffs Well on Friday.
Dan Bowen put the Wellmen ahead with a stunning strike from the edge of the area after 15 minutes, but Trefelin had turned the game around by the half hour mark thanks to goals from Joe Clarke and Trundle.
Taffs Well brought themselves level with another long range effort, this time from Drew Caple, who scored his first league goal of the season on the stroke of half-time.
Jak Carson headed home a third for the Wellmen in the 55th minute, but they were reduced to 10 men in the third minute of stoppage time as Owain Edwards received a second yellow card.
The hosts were punished a minute later when Trundle popped up with a dramatic equaliser moments later to salvage a point with his eighth league of the season as he approaches his 48th birthday.
Baglan Dragons moved three points above the relegation zone with an impressive 3-0 win away to nine-man Afan Lido on Friday.
Nathan Logan’s fierce strike put the Dragons ahead midway through the first half, before Dylan Thomas produced some beautiful skill and fired into the top corner for a second goal six minutes later.
Lido duo Ben Keen and Ioan Evans both saw red for second bookable offences in the final 10 minutes, while Baglan wrapped up victory in stoppage time thanks to Tom Davies’ penalty.
Following defeat, Lido announced the departure of manager Paul Evans after six years in charge of the club.
Pontypridd United made it back-to-back away wins with a 2-0 victory at Penrhiwceiber Rangers on Saturday afternoon.
Joe Evans slotted the Dragons in front in first half stoppage time with his first goal in over a year, which was also the same case for Ponty’s second scorer, Taylor Marsh, who doubled the lead with a composed finish in the 69th minute. Ponty are now up to fifth in the table, while Rangers remain bottom.
Llantwit Major extended their unbeaten run in the JD Cymru South to six matches in a 1-1 draw with Goytre United on Saturday.
Goyt took the lead in remarkable fashion as Kyran Gardner scored directly from a corner in the 13th minute, but Major eventually found their all-important equaliser with 62 minutes on the clock as veteran Sean Williams prodded home his first senior goal in over 18 months – his last prior to kick-off also coming against Goytre United.
Major were reduced to nine men following red cards for both Joel Woodington and Josh Morgan within the space of seven minutes, but Ben Stait’s side were able to see out the match and hold on to claim a point.
