Cambrian United scored a 99th-minute equaliser to earn a 3-3 draw at home against JD Cymru South title challengers Pontypridd United on New Year’s Day.
Liam Eason’s fifth-minute goal had Ponty ahead at half-time, before a second half full of drama. Dan Griffiths doubled the visitors’ advantage 10 minutes after the break, but Cambrian clawed themselves level thanks to Tim Parker and Kieron Coles.
Pontypridd looked to have snatched all three points in the first minute of stoppage time when 17-year-old substitute Alfie Lewis found the net, but Parker finished from close range even later to grab a dramatic point for Cambrian.
Penrhiwceiber Rangers climbed out of the relegation zone with a 2-1 home win over fellow strugglers Taffs Well on New Year’s Day.
Dean Brown’s side had not won since the end of October, but took the lead on 28 minutes through Brandon Davies’ fourth league goal of the campaign.
Owen Orford doubled the advantage in the 72nd minute only for Sam Johnson to pull a goal back for Taffs Well six minutes later, but the visitors held on to claim a crucial three points.
Noah Daley started the new year with a hat-trick as his treble earned a 3-0 home win for Carmarthen Town against Ammanford.
Daley scored inside the opening minute at the LHP Stadium as he latched on to Jordan Vickers’ ball over the top and fired past Luke Martin.
The Old Gold skipper then scored twice in three minutes in the second half, first turning the ball home from close range after Adam Morgan had headed it against his own post, before stealing the ball off Callum Jones and rounding Martin to complete his hat-trick.
It was a first league win since the beginning of October for Carmarthen and lifts them up to ninth in the table.
Llanelli Town begin 2025 as JD Cymru South leaders after they triumphed 2-0 over Baglan Dragons at Stebonheath on Monday night.
Reds top scorer Ethan Cann was forced off with injury after just 10 minutes played, but his departure did not affect his side as Henry Jones opened the scoring midway through the first half with a sweet strike into the top corner from distance.
Cann’s replacement Alex Giardelli doubled the lead three minutes before half-time as he volleyed home the rebound after seeing his header blocked. Baglan applied the pressure in the second half, but Llanelli kept their clean sheet and extended their unbeaten run to 12 matches in all competitions.
Trefelin closed out 2024 with their biggest home crowd of the year as 881 fans watched a 1-1 draw against Afan Lido on Monday night.
Both goals came in the final 10 minutes at Ynys Park, but not before Lido goalkeeper Alex Haines had denied Connor Goldsworthy from the penalty spot in the first half.
Jonathan Hood thought he might have won the game for Lido in the 86th minute when he volleyed into the bottom corner after receiving Callum Leworthy’s cross, but Trefelin grabbed an equaliser as the clock ticked towards stoppage time when Lido substitute Chris Jones turned the hosts’ corner into his own net.
