Supporter Liaison Officers appointed at JD Cymru Premier clubs

JD Cymru Premier clubs have received Supporter Liaison Officer training via the FAW, UEFA Academy and Football Supporters Europe.

Supporters across the JD Cymru Premier now have a direct voice at their clubs thanks to the introduction of Supporter Liaison Officers (SLOs).

Every club will appoint an SLO, with Newtown AFC and Aberystwyth Town also taking part from Tier 2. The move follows the completion of official UEFA Academy and Football Supporters Europe (FSE) training  that recently took place in Cardiff.

What is an SLO?

An SLO is there for supporters. They are a trusted link between fans and their club’s board and operations staff – helping to make sure that the voice of the fans is heard and that information flows both ways.

They’re not part of security or stewarding teams. Instead, SLOs focus on communication, supporter experience, and building positive relationships.

How does it help the fans?

  • A direct point of contact for matchday questions or concerns.
  • Year-round dialogue with the club.
  • Feedback opportunities after games.
  • A stronger supporter voice in how clubs operate.
  • Connections to the wider European network of SLOs.

Meet the SLOs

Here are the current SLOs:

  • Aberystwyth Town – Ethan Pollitt
  • Bala Town – Joe Taft
  • Barry Town – Stephen Davies
  • Briton Ferry Llansawel AFC – Kevin Rootes
  • Caernarfon Town – Bethan Roberts
  • Cardiff Met FC – Matthew James
  • Colwyn Bay – Andrew Fraser & Neil Williams
  • Connah’s Quay Nomads – Rory McCallum
  • Flint Town United – Charlie Roberts
  • Haverfordwest County – Dan Devine
  • Llanelli Town – TBC
  • Newtown AFC – Mark Tanner
  • Penybont FC – Kevin Knight
  • The New Saints – Michael Davies

What’s next?

Some clubs have already introduced their SLOs with email addresses, matchday presence, and branded kit. Others are in the process of rolling this out. All SLOs are active and contactable now, and visibility will continue to grow through this season.

The aim is for SLOs to become a recognised and trusted part of the JD Cymru Premier by next season, ensuring that supporter voices remain central to the game.

How have SLOs been supported?

Delivered in partnership with the UEFA Academy and Football Supporters Europe (FSE), the FAW held a four-day programme that followed strict UEFA and FSE standards, highlighting the importance and credibility of the SLO role in modern football governance and supporter engagement.
