Genero Adran North round-up | Derby delight for Connah’s Quay Nomads

Connah’s Quay Nomads moved to the top of the Genero Adran North with a dramatic 3-2 derby victory over Flint Town United on Sunday afternoon.

It was Flint who took the lead in the 40th minute as Ruby Hastings capitalised on a defensive error from Tia Lockley to slot past Molly France, but quickfire goals from Polly Wild-McGregor and Ella Jones completed a stunning turnaround for the Nomads before half-time.

Flint started the second half on the front foot and were rewarded with an equaliser in the 59th minute as Rosie Hughes burst through on goal before calmly finishing with her weak foot.

Hughes’ goal looked to have been enough to give the Silkwomen a point, but there was one more twist to come in the fifth minute of stoppage time. A Nomads corner was not fully cleared by Flint, allowing Aimee Redfern to latch onto the loose ball and fire a looping effort over Rebecca Bott to send the home supporters into raptures.

Llandudno were on course to join the Nomads on 12 points from four games as Maddie Williams’ strike put the Seasiders 1-0 up at half-time away to Felinheli.

However, the match was abandoned at the break due to an injury to the referee. The game will be rearranged for a later date.
