Genero Adran North round-up | Llandudno stage late comeback to secure title

Llandudno secured the Genero Adran North title on Sunday afternoon as two late goals from Stevie Donougher and Kelsey Davies completed a thrilling 4-3 comeback win over Felinheli at Treborth Playing Fields.

Felinheli pegged back Llandudno twice in the first half as Alaw Huws grabbed a brace to cancel out strikes from Sofie Owen and Kelsey Davies respectively.

The hosts took the lead for the first time in the match as Fflur Williams’ fourth league goal of the season looked to have kept Felinheli’s title hopes alive, but those two late strikes from Donougher and Davies completed the turnaround to seal the title for Llandudno in dramatic fashion.

Defeat for Felinheli saw Connah’s Quay Nomads move up into second place after their narrow 3-2 victory over Bangor at the Hollingsworth Group Stadium.

Elana Harley marked her first senior start since November with a close range finish to put the Nomads in front in just the seventh minute, a lead which they held until the 70th minute when Llinos Hughes’ foul inside the box allowed Cerys McDonald to level the scoreline from the penalty spot.

Jordan Parry’s side responded with two quickfire goals from the in-form duo of Anais Bathily and Sophie Rawling, with Bangor substitute Cara Aston sent off in between.

Menna Evans scored on the counter-attack as Bangor grabbed their second in stoppage time, but it proved just to be a consolation for the visitors.

Rhyl 1879 secured a top half finish as Llio Davies’ double inspired them to a 3-1 victory over NFA at Ffordd Derwen Playing Fields.

Davies scored in the first minute of the 2-1 win over Connah’s Quay Nomads last Sunday , and the striker did the same again this weekend against Rhyl’s local rivals. Her composed finish inside just nine seconds got things rolling for the Lilywhites.

Laura Williams grabbed Rhyl’s second midway through the first half, but NFA halved the deficit through Mel Peake’s penalty just before the break.

Rhyl would restore their two-goal cushion just after the hour mark as Davies popped up with another terrific strike to complete her brace. Rhyl held onto their lead to claim back-to-back league wins for the first time this season.
