Genero Adran South round-up | Pontardawe Town come from behind to earn victory

Pontardawe Town secured their first victory of the season in the Genero Adran South after they came from behind to defeat Caldicot Town 2-1 at Parc Ynysderw.

Caldicot’s Lucy McDonough, whose last league goal came in the reverse fixture between these two sides, broke the deadlock in the 19th minute as she broke through the Ponty defence and tucked the ball home into the bottom corner.

However, after being on top for most of the match, the visitors suddenly trailed courtesy of two quickfire goals. Pontardawe midfielder Renee Day drove into the final third and curled into the far corner from just inside the area in the 53rd minute, before captain Keira Harris clinically finished from Catryn Cook’s cross four minutes later for her third league goal of the season.

Harris’ goal turned out to be deciding factor as Ponty held on to claim all three points and move level with Caldicot on four points, with three league games remaining for both sides.
