The Cymru Football Foundation is working nationwide to support the growth of the Women and Girls’ game – this means removing barriers that are preventing many from taking part.
Research by Women in Sport found that seven in 10 teenage girls avoid activity when they’re on their period and providing period care at local clubs was one of the top three most impactful changes that could be made for females in the game.
That’s why we’re working to deliver free period care products to over 60 grassroots clubs across Cymru – working to improve football environments for women and girls both on and off the pitch for players, coaches and supporters of our domestic game.
This follows on from the recent news that the CFF will be investing £1million into refurbishing off-field facilities to make them safer, more inclusive, and inspiring through our the Environments For Her fund.

Following the success of our Women’s National Team, women and girls across the country have been inspired to lace up their boots and take to the field and it’s essential that we make Cymru’s footballing landscape inclusive for all. The CFF will commit to providing free period care products to every club that receives a grant from us.
The initiative has already seen packages sent out to several clubs including North Cardiff Cosmos FC, Hawarden Park Girls and Ladies FC, Graig Villa Dino FC and Ystradgynlais AFC.
Kelly Davies, Chair of Trustees at the Cymru Football Foundation and former Cymru International said:
“The Cymru Football Foundation is committed to making on and off-field facilities inclusive, welcoming and inspiring for all and this provision is another step in emphasising that.”
“With our Women’s National Team embarking on their first EUROs campaign, so many women and girls have been – and will be – inspired by them for years to come and it’s important we do as much as we can to create environments across Cymru’s footballing landscape that welcome players of all ages and genders with open arms.”
Ruby Parmer, Chair and non-Executive Director at Time of the Month said:
“We’re thrilled to be working with Cymru Football Foundation to champion period comfort, wellbeing, and dignity by making organic and planet-friendly period care accessible to players across grassroots football clubs in Cymru, particularly as a Welsh business ourselves. From our very first discussion, we were inspired by CFF’s passion for breaking down barriers and getting more women and girls into football at all levels, ensuring accessibility across the board, and fostering a supportive cultural shift.
“At TOTM, we’re committed to breaking the stigma surrounding periods and creating inclusive spaces where everyone feels supported. Providing free, sustainable period care is a crucial step toward normalising conversations about menstruation and ensuring that periods don’t become a barrier to access.
“We’re sending the best of luck to the Cymru Women’s team this Saturday, as much as to the young players getting involved in football for the very first time.”
