Cymru heroes reunite as over £25,000 raised for the CFF

A memorable evening to celebrate one of the most iconic chapters in Welsh football history has raised £25,000 for the Cymru Football Foundation.

Held at the Celtic Manor Resort, the Euro 2016 reunion dinner brought together former Cymru internationals, partners and supporters for a night of reflection, celebration and fundraising.

Among the attendees were national heroes Gareth Bale, Aaron Ramsey and former captain Ashley Williams – key figures in Wales’ historic Euro 2016 campaign, which saw the nation reach the semi-finals in its first major tournament appearance.

The evening provided an opportunity to re-live one of the most defining moments in Welsh sporting history. The Euro 2016 squad captured the imagination of a nation, defying expectations with a remarkable run that included a famous victory over Belgium.

The reunion reflected the same spirit of unity and pride that carried the team to unprecedented success, with former teammates sharing stories from the tournament and reconnecting with fans.

Funds raised from the evening will support the ongoing work of the Cymru Football Foundation, the charitable arm of the Football Association of Wales.

The CFF focuses on developing and improving football facilities across the country, with the aim of creating accessible, high-quality spaces that strengthen communities, promote inclusion and improve health and wellbeing.

Through its investment programmes, the CFF helps grassroots clubs and communities benefit from high-quality, modern pitches, facilities and equipment – ensuring opportunities to play football are within reach for communities across Wales.

With Wales’ footballing icons in attendance and a shared commitment to supporting the next generation, the event demonstrated the lasting impact of the Euro 2016 squad – both on and off the pitch.

The £25,000 raised will contribute directly to the Foundation’s mission of growing the game at grassroots level, ensuring that the legacy of Welsh football’s golden summer continues to inspire communities for years to come.
