CFF appoints Kate Collins as new Independent Chair of Trustees

The Cymru Football Foundation is delighted to announce the appointment of Kate Collins as our new Independent Chair of Trustees.

Bringing more than 25 years of leadership experience across the charity, health and public sectors, Kate will help guide the CFF as it continues to transform communities across Wales through investment in high-quality football facilities.

A highly respected Board Leader, Trustee and former charity Chief Executive, Kate has built an impressive career supporting organisations through growth, change and complex challenges. Her expertise spans across governance, strategic leadership, financial stewardship and partnership working.

Kate recently completed an eight-year tenure as Chief Executive of Teenage Cancer Trust, where she led the charity through significant growth and transformation, strengthening financial resilience and enhancing organisational impact.

Throughout her career, Kate has also held a number of senior governance roles, including Chair of the Children and Young People’s Cancer Charity Coalition, Co-Chair of the Global Adolescent and Young Adult Cancer Accord, and Trustee of the Centre for Acceleration of Social Technology (CAST).

Kate is passionate about the power of community sport to improve wellbeing, promote inclusion and strengthen local communities – values that sit at the heart of the CFF’s work.

Speaking on her new role, Kate said:

“In just a few years, the Cymru Football Foundation has made a real difference to communities across Cymru, helping more people get the chance to play through investment into transformational football facilities. That is testament to the leadership and ambition of Kelly, the Board and the small but driven team.

“Welsh football matters enormously to me and my family, and I’ve seen the difference that football can make far beyond the pitch. I’m delighted to be joining as Independent Chair and look forward to working with the team and my fellow Trustees to build on what has already been achieved and create even more opportunities for communities across Cymru.”

Aled Lewis, Foundation Director said:

“We are delighted to welcome Kate as our new Chair of Trustees. From the very beginning, Kate has shown a genuine passion for the CFF and our work.

“Kate brings not only valuable experience and insight, but also real warmth, enthusiasm and commitment that will be greatly valued by everyone across the organisation. Kate’s leadership will be invaluable as the Foundation looks ahead to an exciting new chapter. Croeso!”

Kate succeeds former Chair Kelly Davies and joins the Foundation at a time when demand for high-quality football facilities continues to grow across the country.

Kelly said:

“I’m delighted to welcome Kate and wish her every success in the role. I know she will bring her energy, experience and leadership to the Foundation, and I look forward to seeing further impact and create more opportunities for communities across Cymru. A very exciting new chapter ahead!”

The CFF looks forward to benefiting from Kate’s extensive leadership experience, strategic insight and passion for positive community impact as we continue to develop on and off-field facilities across Cymru.
