Clarbeston Road AFC applied to the Cymru Football Foundation’s Sustainability Fund to support their commitment to becoming a more environmentally friendly football club.
Based in Pembrokeshire, the club were keen to explore innovative ways to increase their biodiversity value at their home, Knock Playing Field. Through support and advice from the CFF team, a grant was awarded to create a wildflower meadow and upgrade internal lighting to LED, reducing energy costs alongside becoming more sustainable.
“The funding and support from the Cymru Football Foundation Sustainability Fund has helped our club to deliver our commitment to sustainability and nature within our environmental policy. We wish to minimise the impact of our activities on the environment as much as we can and projects such as our wild flower planting will help both support and enhance nature at our sites and help educate and build respect amongst our young members for their local environment.”
“The application process was very straightforward and supported with helpful guidance and we received feedback soon after the closing date. We would encourage other clubs to explore what they can do to contribute to more sustainable activities and to take advantage of this funding”.
