Penclawdd AFC are the latest grassroots football club to benefit from the Cymru Football Foundation’s Fit-For-Future Facilities Fund through upgrades to the club’s changing facilities and equipment.
In partnership with UK Government – Llanrhidian Higher Community Council – on behalf of Penclawdd AFC – received a grant of just over £110,000 that has been used to support improvements to the club’s changing facilities, alongside perimeter fencing to secure the venue and goalposts to accommodate for the recent merger between Penclawdd AFC and Penclawdd AFC Juniors.
The condition and layout of the previous changing facilities at Parc Dan Y Graig were limiting players and officials – restricting the club’s ability to attract new players. The upgrade ensures a better environment for existing club members and away teams, whilst also appealing to new players and allowing the club’s Senior Ladies team to have access to changing and shower facilities on-site – further supporting participation in a team that has already doubled in numbers over the last 12 months.
“Penclawdd AFC would like to thank the Cymru Football Foundation and Llanrhidian Higher Community Council for their tremendous support with the funding and delivering of our new changing rooms at Parc Dan Y Graig, to support the growing number of junior and senior teams within the club.
“Furthermore, the investment in rollout 9v9 and full size goals has helped support club volunteers with the seamless transition between junior and senior games on match days and the venue is now fully secure thanks to the completion of perimeter fencing and a new driveway into the ground.“
Matthew Tucker, Committee Member at Penclawdd AFC
“Upgrading the changing rooms at Parc Dan Y Graig will create opportunities for current and potential new players through a safe, welcoming environment that is inclusive for so many. Investments like these are so important for the future of Welsh football, to encourage participation and continue to grow the game at all levels across Wales.
“A huge thank you to UK Government for their continued support – we look forward to continuing to work with all of our partners to achieve our goal of Inspirational and Fit-For-Future Facilities.”
