Located in Flintshire, Flint Town United FC applied to the Cymru Football Foundation’s Fit-For-Future Facilities Fund with the aim of considerably reducing the club’s running costs through upgrading their floodlights.
Our Fit-For-Future Facilities Fund allows the club to receive a grant of just over £40,000 to invest in new LED bulbs to provide more long-term sustainability, giving the opportunity to re-invest their savings into equipment and support the development of their men’s, women’s and academy squads.
“We’re delighted with the investment from Cymru Football Foundation. It’s enabled the Club to save costs and allowed us to bring our training and matches in-house, meaning players, parents and everyone associated feels part of our Club. We’ve also had positive feedback from supporters regarding their experience on a matchday.”
Mike Bennett, Secretary at Flint Town Utd FC
Flint Town also ground-share with a number of local clubs including JD Cymru Premier side Connah’s Quay Nomads, and grassroots club Flint Mountain FC, meaning additional benefits for those involved.
The CFF’s Fit-For-Future Facilities Fund ties into the FAW’s overall Sustainability Strategy, to further reduce the country’s carbon footprint and reduce energy costs.
Our Fit-For-Future Facilities programme opened on 25th October – clubs, local authorities and charitable organisations can apply by clicking here.
