The Cymru Football Foundation has opened our latest Fit-For-Future Facilities programme project with Llanfairfechan Town Council and Llanfairfechan Town FC – thanks to funding from UK Government.
Opened on Friday 9th August, the CFF – with support from UK Government – were able to support a significant upgrade of the playing surface and creation of a multi-use games area (MUGA) through a grant of just over £90,000, coupled with club’s fundraising efforts.
The facility was previously an un-used pair of concrete tennis courts, unsafe for use by the local community due to their poor condition.
Thanks to this investment, Llanfairfechan Town FC’s female and junior provisions will now be able to train consistently, whatever the weather and re-invest the funds they were previously spending on alternative locations to become a stronger, more sustainable community-focused club – a key priority for the CFF.
The incorporation of the MUGA will also provide a space for members of the local community to stay active, with the facility able to also accommodate for tennis, badminton and pickleball.
“We’re thrilled to have such an amazing facility that benefits not only football and tennis but also the wider community. Llanfairfechan Town Council would like to thank the funders and the partner community organisations for all their contributions to this project – it shows what we can achieve through positive working relationships.”
– Mayor Cllr Allun Rhys Jones
