Conwy-based Penmaenmawr Phoenix FC obtained the lease for a disused, rundown facility that was in need of a refurbish.
Previously, the club only had one playable grass pitch for senior and junior players – only usable when the weather allowed.
Thanks to an investment of just over £50,000, the Cymru Football Foundation – in partnership with Sport Wales – were able to support with a full re-surface of the facility coupled with LED floodlight to allow winter usage.
“Without this investment we wouldn’t be in the position we are today – providing an amazing facility to both Penmaenmawr Phoenix and the wider public – a space the whole community is proud of.”
Pete Williams, Chairman at Penmaenmawr Phoenix FC
The new MUGA also now generates income for the club through external bookings from members of the community – supporting a CFF priority of stronger and sustainable community-focussed clubs.
