Cambrian Village Trust applied to the Cymru Football Foundation’s Sustainability Fund as they were spending over £17,000 per year on energy costs – an equivalent of 40.86 tonnes of carbon emissions.
The site at Cwmclydach Country Park hosts a number of activities for the community – including health and wellbeing initiatives, outdoor learning opportunities and activities for all ages.
Initially set up in 2001 to offer football opportunities to children in the local area – the Trust now acts as a hub for a number of residents in the community.
The CFF – through support from Sport Wales – have been able to support CBT to fulfil their commitment of becoming more environmentally friendly through the investment of just over £17,000 in solar panels and EV charging points as an option when looking to utilise any excess energy.
Through conversations with Severn Wye Energy – these additions have the potential to save almost £3,000 per year and provide carbon net-zero opportunities.

The CFF’s partnership with Sport Wales has been football clubs in Wales to become more environmentally friendly. We’ve invested over £300k into over 20 projects that range from the installation of solar panels to upgrading heating and water infrastructure.
