Following the opening of their brand-new changing facility for Women and Girls, CPD Clydach FC has seen a huge increase in their player base.
Now over 200 women and girls are registered and enjoying their football – almost double the number pre-investment by the CFF.
Having only been able to welcome female players up to U13 level previously, these new facilities have allowed more players and better experiences alongside making huge strides towards doubling the number of women and girls playing football across the country – a key priority for the Cymru Football Foundation.
Tim Daley, Club representative for CPD Clydach FC said:
“The investment from the CFF, changes to the way the club is run and the support from the FAW has helped us to continuously develop our club both on and off the pitch. It has helped us to demonstrate our commitment to player development with first class facilities that are designed around the needs of both girls and boys.
“We have seen both an increase in player participation and playing standards, particularly with girl’s teams, with numbers nearly doubling in the period since they were opened. The facilities provide a visible sign of improvement and credibility across the community.”
Since 2022, we have invested into over 30 new or upgraded off-pitch facilities across the country – with a massive focus on improving inclusivity.
In the year that our Women’s National Team qualified for their first major tournament, women and girls across the country have been inspired to lace up their boots and take to the field.
Already committing to delivering free period care products to all of the facilities we’ve invested in, a further £1million has been allocated to make off-pitch facilities safe and welcoming through Environments For Her.
