Initiatives

Initiatives

The FAW’s PAWB initiatives encompass a wide range of programs and projects dedicated to developing and progressing Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion in football across Wales.

Outlined here are some PAWB initiatives which have been implemented as integral components of the PAWB EDI 2021-26 Strategy.

FAW Courses Bursary Programme

Not everyone has access to the same opportunities when it comes to developing skills that can help support career growth. The FAW and Chase want to help change that, by harnessing the power of football to help you develop transferable skills that can help unlock your potential, on and off the pitch.

Referee Diversity Programme

The FAW’s Referee Diversity Programme aims to provide the opportunity for underrepresented groups to become qualified referees.

PAWB Fund

The PAWB Fund supports young people, across Wales, to access regular football opportunities.

BE. Football: Mentoring Programme For Her

The ‘BE. Football: Mentoring Programme For Her’ encourages women, aged 18+, who are actively working or volunteering in football and want to progress their careers to apply to be a mentee of the programme.

FAW Youth Council

The FAW Youth Council aims to provide a platform for children and young people to influence change and decision-making in Welsh football while developing themselves as young leaders and ambassadors of the game.

FAW Youth Conference

The FAW Youth Conference is an opportunity for young people aged between 12-24 years old to challenge themselves to expand their leadership potential in football while developing skills and knowledge through a range of workshops, activities and talks.

Clwb PAWB Summit

The Clwb PAWB Summit provides an opportunity for Club Equality Champions, Coaches, Officials and Volunteers to develop their understanding of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion and to connect with others who are passionate about driving change in football.

Audio Descriptive Commentary

The FAW are proud to be able to provide an audio description commentary service for blind and vision-impaired spectators for every Cymru Senior home fixture.

Sensory Room Experience

The Sensory Room experience has been designed to accommodate the needs of children and young people with additional sensory needs on a match day, providing a safe space with a range of calming sights, sounds and apparatus.

Sensory Pack

Fans with sensory needs can apply for a free FAW Sensory Pack. The packs have been designed to help fans, particularly those with autism, who attend Cymru matches, to enhance the matchday experience, making it more comfortable and enjoyable.

Football Welcomes Refugees

The Football Welcomes Refugees project aims to utilise the power of football to help individuals reach their full potential and rebuild their lives by integrating into local communities in Wales through working with football Clubs, establishing Refugee Welcoming hubs and providing a coach and referee bursary programme.

Victim Support Programme

The Victim Support Programme provides advice and support for individuals who have experienced discrimination in football in addition to providing guidelines on the FAW’s process of investigating reports.
