PAWB Fund

The PAWB fund aims to support young people and adults* access regular grassroots and other football opportunities across Cymru. The fund is aligned to the FAW’s Our Cymru strategy and the key objective to provide a flexible and inclusive playing offer and make football accessible and affordable for people from different socioeconomic backgrounds, and appealing and actively engaging to all segments of Welsh society. 

This fund can be applied for, on behalf of any young player, to support and assist them with accessing football opportunities and/or equipment. 

The application is open to 5 – 18 year-olds living in Wales and will be decided by a national panel that will use the application information to assess each case. 

The following items are eligible for support through the fund:

  • Grassroots Club Membership Fees
  • Playing/Club Kit
  • Football Boots
  • Shin Pads
  • Goalkeeper Gloves
  • Sport Hijab
  • Impairment Specific Equipment e.g. Sports Goggles
  • Travel Costs e.g. Train, Bus or Taxi Costs to Training and Match Venues

The fund will support children and families in most need. The fund will support recipients on an annual basis to ensure they can access regular football opportunities.

Criteria 

  • The player must live in Wales.                             
  • The player must be nominated by a Club/Organisation.
  • The Club/Organisation must be based in Wales.
  • The player must be 5 -18 years old*.
  • *Over 18’s (adults) within disability football are also eligible
  • *Asylum Seekers and Refugees over 18 are also eligible (the application form outlines how to provide proof of status)
  • The player must play for a Club or Organisation in Wales.
  • Schools in Wales can apply on behalf of a pupil or pupils (note: school team playing kits will not be funded).

Application Process

Clubs, schools, social services and other community organisations can apply for the fund on behalf of recipients.
