Sensory Room Experience
The Football Association of Wales is dedicated to creating an inclusive environment where everyone is welcomed, valued, and feels they belong. To ensure football is accessible to all, sensory rooms are available at all senior Cymru Men’s, Women’s, and U21s home fixtures, as well as domestic league cup finals. These spaces provide a calm and supportive environment for those who may benefit from them, ensuring every member of our football family can enjoy the game.
What Does the Sensory Room Offer?
The Sensory Room is designed to support children and young people with additional sensory needs, offering a safe and calming environment with soothing sights, sounds, and interactive equipment. This specially equipped space helps individuals with neurodiverse conditions feel more comfortable and welcome at the stadium, providing a retreat from the busy and sometimes overwhelming atmosphere of match day.
Location
Sensory rooms are available at all venues hosting Cymru home fixtures and domestic cup finals, with facilities tailored to each location:
- Cardiff City Stadium: Supporters can transition between two sensory rooms—one offering a full viewing window of the pitch and another quieter space without a pitch view. Seats will be allocated directly outside the sensory room in the stadium bowl, allowing you to watch the match from your seat if preferred.
- Swansea.com Stadium: Visitors using the sensory room will be seated in the West Stand, with tickets allocated in the same area.
- Other Venues (Mobile Sensory Room): At other locations, a mobile sensory room will be set up in the quietest and most accessible area of the stadium. These rooms will feature fidget toys, beanbags, sensory lights, activity packs, and more. Seats will also be located directly outside the mobile sensory room.
These spaces are designed to provide flexibility and comfort, ensuring an inclusive matchday experience for everyone.
How do I Enquire about Making a Booking?
The Sensory Room can be booked on a match-by-match basis. Due to limited capacity, booking is essential; however, we will do our best to accommodate all requests, subject to availability.
For added convenience, users have the option to visit the stadium at a quiet time before the fixture to familiarise themselves with the journey to the Sensory Room.
