FAW Council Election: Results

The outcome of the Football Association of Wales Council Elections is now known following the counting of the votes in Newtown on Friday (28 July).

For the elected members, their term on the FAW Council will run from 1 August 2023 to 31 July 2027. 

The results of each election are displayed below on this page. Five of the elections resulted in a draw between candidates and the timetable for a re-run will be communicated in due course. 

Steve Williams, FAW President, has welcomed those who have been elected to represent clubs and leagues across the country: “Following the results of the elections, I’m very pleased to welcome new and re-elected members to the FAW Council. They now have the important responsibility of promoting and growing football in Wales.”

Alongside FAW CEO Noel Mooney, Williams will work with the newly appointed Council to oversee Welsh football. He added: “It’s such an honour to be selected by the clubs to be their representative on FAW Council and I very much look forward to working with everyone during my tenure as President. I truly believe we can do special things together for the future of Welsh football.” 

The FAW Council are responsible for: 

  • Promoting, regulating and controlling football in Wales while building on its ability to unite, educate and drive positive change in the country. 
  • Overseeing changes to the game in Wales to ensure it is constantly improving, from the grassroots game, through the domestic pyramid and up to international levels including youth teams.
  • Overseeing and advise on the organisation of competitions within Wales, including FAW affiliated competitions and those organised at Area Association level and their affiliated leagues. 
  • Advising on and reviewing regulations to ensure the FAW rules, measures and procedures are fit for purpose and enforced to ensure consistency across the game.
  • Engaging with members to ensure their concerns, suggestions and interests are heard and understood. 
  • Complying with and prevent any infringement of the Rules and Laws of the game.
  • Upholding the integrity of the FAW across all areas of the game and highlight any issues that could jeopardise the FAW or its members. 
  • Representing the FAW at various engagement and events, including domestic and international football matches.
