Terry Medwin

It is with great sadness that the Football Association of Wales shares the news that Terry Medwin has sadly passed away at the age of 91.

Medwin was capped thirty times for the Cymru National Team, scoring six goals between 1953 and 1963. The Swansea born winger was part of the 1958 FIFA World Cup squad and scored the match winner in a 2-1 group stage play-off match against Hungary, which set up the quarter final match against a Brazilian side featuring Pelé.

At club level, Medwin played for Swansea Town (now Swansea City), making 148 league appearances prior to a move to Tottenham Hotspur. During his time at Tottenham, Medwin won the English Football League First Division title in 1961 and the FA Cup twice, in 1961 and 1962.

The thoughts of everyone at the Football Association of Wales are with his family and friends at this sad time.
