Cymru supporters will be excited to learn that a wide array of the national team’s exclusive memorabilia has now been made accessible to the public.
This is thanks to a new partnership with MatchWornShirt, an innovative fan engagement platform that for the next five years will be hosting online auctions in which it is possible for people to place bids on the worn and autographed shirt of their favourite Cymru players.
Hailing from a small country with a big history, the Cymru team are destined to continue adding to it – and by visiting the auctions on MatchWornShirt’s website, which go live at the beginning of every game, their fans can now also share in the experience of not just making but immortalising a historical moment.
Cymru fans can also expect access to shirts from both the men’s and women’s national teams, with the first auctions commencing in September 2023.
Head of Business Development at MatchWornShirt, James Flude said: “We recognise the remarkable journey that the FAW has been on over the past decade and we are extremely excited to be playing a small part in that progress, across both the men’s and women’s game. Welsh supporters are amongst the most patriotic and passionate fans in the world and we’re looking forward to bringing such iconic shirts to them over the next five years”.
Noel Mooney, the Football Association of Wales (FAW) Chief Executive, expressed his excitement about the new partnership, stating: “This exciting collaboration between the FAW and MatchWornShirt heralds a thrilling chapter in the Cymru national team’s journey. By making our exclusive memorabilia accessible to fans, we are enabling them to become an integral part of Welsh football history.”
Highlighting the inclusivity of the partnership, Mooney added: “It brings me immense satisfaction to announce that this partnership encompasses both the men’s and women’s national teams. We believe in the power of unity and shared experiences and want to ensure that all Cymru supporters can partake in this extraordinary journey. We look forward to the first auctions in September 2023 and the countless remarkable moments that lie ahead.”
