Cymru signed off 2024 UEFA U17 EURO in Cyprus with a 1-1 draw against Croatia.

Bruno Durdov gave Croatia the lead inside the 22nd minute before Cruz Allen found the leveller for Cymru later in the first half.

Craig Knight’s side enjoyed the first chance of the evening as captain Ollie Bostock broke away and attempted to lob goalkeeper Antonio Rajić, who charged down the effort.

Croatia knew they had to win to stand any chance of reaching the knockouts and they took the lead inside following a period of pressure on the Cymru goal. Durdov’s in swinging corner evaded everyone and found the far corner.

But it took Cymru nine minutes to find the equaliser which came from Allen. After Bostock’s quick turn won Knight’s side a free-kick on the edge of the area, Allen saw his effort hit the hand of the Croatia goalkeeper and go in off the inside of the post.

Louis Griffiths, who was handed his first start of the tournament, almost put Cymru ahead in the final stages of the first half but saw his great solo run come to an end with a strong save from the Croatia goalkeeper.

Bostock then came close to heading home on the hour mark after meeting Eliot Myles’ cross before another mazy run from Griffiths saw his shot hit the side netting.

The result meant Croatia joined Cymru in being unable to reach the quarter-finals as Austria and Denmark both progressed from Group B.
