South Wales FA Strategy Manager
The Role
In 2023 the Football Association of Wales (FAW) commissioned a review into the 6 Area Associations, this review resulted in 30 recommendations to ensure the Area Associations and grassroots football continue to grow and develop. A key area of focus in these recommendations is around the workforce within the Area Associations, it was recognised how hard the volunteers work and recommended that the FAW funds a full-time role within each Area Association to work alongside the volunteers to drive the associations forward.
The purpose of the South Wales FA Strategy Manager will be to ensure delivery of the key aims of the FAW strategy at a local level, to support the strategic planning within the Area Association and be part of the process to ensure they are modern, diverse associations working for the benefit of grassroots football.
The FAW is supporting the South Wales FAs with the recruitment of this role but the successful candidate will be employed by the Area Association.

South Wales FA
The South Wales FA is responsible for the administration and governance for grassroots football in the South Wales area. This includes men’s football below tier 3, women’s football below tier 2 leagues and cups plus youth, junior, Sunday and veteran’s football. Within the South Wales area there are 260 clubs with over 5500 coaches and over 34,000 players.

The FAW is governed by a Board of Directors made up of an Independent Chair, the CEO, two Independent Non-Executives, the four Officers of the FAW and three elected Members. The FAW Board is responsible to the Shareholders of the FAW called the FAW Council. The Council is made up of elected and nominated representatives from Welsh Football. The FAW Council, with the FAW Executive, manages football related activities through a series of committees. The CEO has the responsibility to manage the business and all staff employed by the FAW.
