Barry Town United lifted the FAW Girls’ Cup trophy with a 6-0 victory over Abergavenny at Penydarren Park.
Tay Wynne’s brace either side of a strike from Amaya Murphy-Sharil saw the Linnets lead by three inside the opening 20 minutes and Aimee Deacon added a fourth on the half-hour mark. The midfielder Deacon then fired home her second just after the restart to increase Barry’s advantage and Aliya Hull netted a sixth.
It took just four minutes for Barry to find their opening goal as Wynne’s stunning strike from 25 yards went over goalkeeper Charlotte Smith to put her side ahead.
And two quick-fire goals followed within the space of two minutes followed as Murphy-Sharil’s effort from range found its way in. Then Wynne added her second with a composed finish beyond the goalkeeper after she was put through on goal.
Deacon’s persistency paid off as a scramble in the Abergavenny penalty area eventually saw her fire in Barry’s fourth of the afternoon before half time. She then completed her brace 11 minutes after the restart after converting from close range and Hull added Barry’s sixth with 20 minutes left on the clock.
