As UEFA Women’s EURO 2025 unfolds, Wales are living their historic debut at the tournament – and midfielder Ceri Holland is right at the heart of it.
Known for her relentless pressing and explosive pace, Holland’s playing style reflects the demands of the modern women’s game – fast, technical, and unforgiving.
It’s that same level of intensity that adidas had in mind when developing the new F50 SPARKFUSION —a football boot designed specifically for female athletes, using insights from the brand’s biggest-ever study into women’s football footwear. Holland was one of several elite players involved in the testing process, helping shape a boot that’s built for the realities of the women’s game.
“Qualifying for the Euros for the first time is a dream come true.”
Ceri isn’t just thinking about her own game — she’s part of a team writing a new chapter for Welsh football.
“To create history with this group means everything. We want to put Wales on the map and show the world what we’re capable of. The pride of representing our country — our families, our fans — it’s massive.”
A Football Boot Designed for the Demands of the Modern Women’s Game

The design starts with FUSIONLAST, a new anatomical fit developed using data from adidas’ largest-ever scan of female foot shapes. Female players typically have a narrower heel, higher arches, and more volume across the midfoot — all factors that have historically been underserved in unisex boots. FUSIONLAST addresses these differences directly, improving lockdown, comfort and fit in the heel, midfoot and forefoot.
“As a winger, speed is everything,” says Holland. “Beating defenders, changing direction — it’s all about those split-second movements. The Sparkfusion gives me the grip and confidence to go at full pace without hesitation.”
Inside the boot, a FUSIONSOLE SOCKLINER provides arch support and added comfort, while a redesigned heel structure with an external counter enhances rearfoot stability — a key consideration for players with narrower heels.
The outsole also sees a major evolution. The new SPRINTFRAME FUSION FG/AG soleplate is built for agility — featuring semi-conical studs for rotational freedom and an adjusted stud configuration based on foot pressure data. A central PIVOT STUD has been added for quicker direction changes, while an extra stud on the boot’s lateral side helps distribute pressure more evenly, making the boot suitable for both natural grass and artificial pitches.
“With Sparkfusion, it’s not just about comfort — it’s about control and reaction speed,” says Holland. “It supports how I want to play: direct, fast, aggressive.”
“Having a boot that’s made to fit isn’t just about feeling good — it helps you perform better.”

At the highest level, performance details matter. For players like Ceri Holland — whose game relies on speed, precision, and physical resilience — every advantage counts.
“I play a pressing game. I love going 1v1, and I need a boot that moves with me — not against me. Sparkfusion’s fit is lightweight and secure, which means I can play with intensity from the first whistle to the last.”
Inspired by Teammates. Grounded by Pressure.
“Two players really push me — Angharad James, our captain, who gives everyone around her so much belief. And Rhiannon Roberts, who I’ve played with for years. She’s always encouraging and helps me stay grounded, especially if I hit a setback in a game.”
“Pressure is part of the game. I like the saying ‘pressure is a privilege.’ If there’s pressure, it means the moment matters. These are the moments I dreamed about as a little girl.”
The F50 SPARKFUSION is available in multiple silhouettes — midcut, lowcut laced, and laceless — and across four price points, starting from £60 for the entry-level model to £260 for the elite edition. The revolutionary women’s football boot is now available at adidas.
