Fresh off a groundbreaking summer leading Cymru at UEFA Women’s EURO 2025, head coach Rhian Wilkinson made a heartfelt return to grassroots football with a special visit to Penydarren Boys & Girls Club, showing her full support for the FAW’s Gêm For Her. Gêm For You.

The campaign is designed to welcome, inspire and empower women and girls across Wales to find their place in football and get involved in the game.

Whether it’s playing, coaching, refereeing, supporting as a fan or working behind the scenes, there’s a place for every woman and girl in football. Gêm For Her. Gêm For You. is a campaign that celebrates the stories of women and girls that have already made their mark in the game but also aims to inspire others to make their first step into football.

The campaign creative features women and girls who are involved in football in Wales in a variety of ways to celebrate and recognise their unique journeys and experiences in football. Using real life stories the campaign aims to spark confidence in other women and girls to pursue their place in the game.

During her visit, Wilkinson participated in the FAW’s new Step into Coaching initiative, a welcoming, in-person workshop designed for women and girls who were curious about coaching but may have felt unsure where to begin.

The session addressed common concerns such as “I’ve never played or coached before” or “I don’t know the rules,” and focused on the skills and qualities many already possess that can make them great coaches.

The workshop also provided practical information about getting started with coaching, what to expect from the FAW Coach Education programme, and how to connect with local grassroots clubs.

Wilkinson delivered motivational talks to participants, shared her own coaching and playing journey, and offered encouragement to those looking to get involved in the game.

She also spent time with the Penydarren Women’s Senior Team during their regular training session, where players had the chance to ask about her experiences, Cymru’s development, and the team’s progress on the road to UEFA Women’s Euro 2025. She also stayed for a special meet and greet with young Cymru supporters, signing autographs and posing for pictures.
