Cymru to face Switzerland in Spain

Rhian Wilkinson’s Cymru will travel to Spain to face Switzerland in an international friendly during the final international window of the year.

The match will take place on Tuesday 2 December, with an 11:00am GMT / 12:00pm CET kick off time at El Chapin Stadium (Estadio Municipal de Chapín) in Jerez de la Frontera, Spain. Switzerland are ranked 24th in the world, eight places above Cymru who are currently ranked 32nd.

Switzerland, who hosted the UEFA Women’s Euros for the first time in the summer, reached the quarter finals of the tournament.

The World Cup play-off final in October 2022 was the last time the two sides faced each other. Cymru narrowly lost 2-1, with Fabienne Humm scoring the winner for Switzerland in the final moments of the match despite Rhiannon Roberts putting Cymru ahead.

This match will aid Cymru’s preparations for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup qualifiers that will take place next year. Cymru, who are in Group 1 of League B will face Czechia, Albania and Montenegro.

A second match is being finalized to be played in the evening of Friday 28 November, also in Spain. Opponents and venue will be confirmed in due course.

Ticket information for the fixture will be announced in due course.
