Cymru U21 squad announced for final EURO qualifiers

Matty Jones has announced his 23-player Cymru squad for the final UEFA U21 EURO 2027 qualifiers against Belgium and Austria.

The squad features a range of experience, featuring Charlie Crew, Kai Andrews and Ronan Kpakio who have been capped for the first team, and four players (Charlie Stevens, Logan Stretch, Ollie Bostock and Robert Tankiewicz) who were involved in this summer’s UEFA U19 EURO finals in north Wales.

Some U21 regulars including Alex Williams, Archie Harris and Joel Cotterill will represent the age group for a final time, whilst Noah Anyadike and Reece Munro are amongst those to be called up for the first time.

Cymru will travel to Westerlo to face Belgium on Tuesday 29 September (KO 7pm BST) before hosting Austria at the Oval in Caernarfon a week later on Tuesday 6 October (KO 5:30pm) Both matches will be shown live on Sgorio.

The match against Austria marks the first time for an U21 match to be held in Caernarfon, showcasing the transformation of The Oval following an investment of more than £1 million ahead of this summer’s UEFA European Under-19 Championship finals in north Wales.

The redevelopment included the installation of a brand-new playing surface, alongside a significant extension and renovation of the changing room facilities. The stadium hosted three matches during the tournament, featuring Croatia, Serbia and Italy.
