Ahead of Cymru’s International Challenge Match against Gibraltar at the Stōk Cae Ras, Welsh icon Dafydd Iwan will perform ‘Yma O Hyd’ in front of Y Wal Goch.
Fans are encouraged to take their seats by 19:15 to ensure they don’t miss an iconic performance of a song of defiance.
Tuesday 10 October will see Dafydd Iwan receive the prestigious Welsh Music Inspiration Award at this year’s Welsh Music Prize ceremony for his lifetime contribution to Welsh music.
The passionate song ‘Yma o Hyd’ was originally recorded by Dafydd Iwan and Ar Log in 1983 detailing the survival of the Welsh language against all the odds. The song’s title translates to ‘We’re Still Here’ and celebrates Welsh as one of the oldest living languages in the world.
The song has become synonymous with the successes of the Cymru National Teams and Dafydd Iwan has spent time with both the men’s and women’s squads to explain the cultural importance of this song.
