Flint Town United booked their place in the JD Welsh Cup final for the first time in 72 years with an emphatic 5–1 victory over Bangor City 1876 at Go Goodwins Stadium.

A dominant first-half display from the Silkmen saw them race into a three-goal lead thanks to Darren Stephenson and a brace from Elliot Reeves, before later strikes from Michael Burke and Ben Woollam secured an impressive win for Lee Fowler’s side.

Stephenson broke the deadlock after just five minutes, finishing off a slick attacking move down the right by sweeping a neat effort beyond the reach of Carl Jones.

Continuing their bright start, Flint doubled their lead midway through the half when Woollam’s high cross towards the back post was brilliantly headed home by the on-running Reeves, who has now scored in every round of the competition except the quarter-final.

Reeves grabbed his second on 35 minutes to further extend Flint’s advantage. After Ben Hughes battled past his defender just over halfway, he slid a pass through to Stephenson, who eventually picked out Reeves to finish for his second of the afternoon.

Flint continued their attacking momentum after the break and Michael Burke added a fourth as he tucked home another well-worked move following a slick passage of play from left to right.

Woollam then added a fifth for Fowler’s side with fifteen minutes remaining, rising highest inside the box to meet substitute Ben Wynne’s pinpoint cross to send the Silkmen supporters into raptures.

The victory keeps Flint on course to recreate the magic of the 1953–54 season, when the Silkmen lifted the Welsh Cup for the first and only time in their 140-year history.

Bangor did pull a goal back late on through Adam Long, but it proved little more than a consolation as the in-form JD Cymru Premier side comfortably secured their place in the final.

The Silkmen will meet either Rhyl 1879 or Caernarfon Town in the JD Welsh Cup Final at Rodney Parade on Sunday 12 April. Those two sides face off in the second semi-final at The Blue Turtle Arena, Colwyn Bay on Sunday 8 March (KO 13:30).
