Players involved in the FAW’s Regional Development Programme met Cymru Head Coach Rob Page this week during a series of matches held at Latham Park, Newtown.
The Programme is based in both north and south Wales and has players represented from English and Welsh professional clubs. Players are involved in training days and matches across a two-year period, ending with the Cymru Cup competition. Players born in 2010 and 2011 took part in the matches.
As well as Rob Page, the FAW’s Chief Football Officer Dr. David Adams, Head of Player Development Richard Williams and Player Development Manager and MU17 Head Coach Craig Knight were also in attendance.
David Adams said “Our Regional Development Programme has been extremely successful and is a strategic priority with 80% of our Men’s National Team squad starting in the Programme. These matches are a great opportunity to bring the players together to observe the quality across our North and South Programmes, as they enable the FAW player development team to monitor the players’ technical and tactical progress and physical maturation.
“I am grateful to the parents for their continued support and the players who performed to a high standard.”
Recent graduates from the Programme that have recently progressed to the senior team include Jordan James, Charlie Savage, Harry Wilson and Ethan Ampadu.
