The Football Association of Wales is pleased to announce the appointment of Jack Sharp as its new Head of Domestic Leagues.
Sharp brings a wealth of experience to the role having spent 11 years with English Football League club MK Dons, where he held several positions and was most recently Head of Football & Performance and General Manager of the women’s team.
Sharp will be responsible for driving the commercial and strategic direction of the JD Cymru Premier and Genero Adran Premier. He will develop and deliver the strategies for both leagues to ensure the wider pyramid reach their full potential as the pinnacle of domestic football in Wales.
Following his appointment at the FAW, Sharp said: “It is a huge privilege to be joining the FAW as Head of Domestic Leagues. To have the opportunity to lead the development of the country’s elite domestic game is a special feeling.
“I have instantly felt a warm connection to the country, the people and everyone who volunteers and works within our clubs. I am fully aware of the task at hand required to change some of the perceptions of our game, and I look forward to sharing in due course our blueprint to do this.
“Community should be at the heart of our JD Cymru Leagues and Genero Adran Leagues. My job is to position the Welsh game where local communities feel connected to our teams and get excited by the future direction that the domestic game is heading.
“There is massive opportunity here to improve all elements of elite football in this country, both here at the FAW and at our clubs. Moving forward, we want to be able to support our clubs to grow their profile, increase their ability to operate sustainable, deliver high-performing outcomes and operate with professional standards.”
