The Football Association of Wales is pleased to announce that James Holland has been appointed as Senior National Talent Identification Manager.
Holland joins the FAW from Huddersfield Town Football Club, where he worked as a senior scout since July 2018. He was responsible for profiling and identifying key targets across all regions of the UK for all first-team scouting.
Along with his time at Huddersfield, Holland held a role as a recruitment consultant at Sports Recruitment International, working with agencies, clubs, rights holders, governing bodies and sporting brands to service recruitment needs.
During his time at the FAW, Holland – who is currently on the FA Talent ID Level 4 – will be responsible for identifying and recommending players of the required standard for the elite player pathways in Wales.
He will work in close collaboration with the Chief Football Officer, the Boys’ Head of Player Development, the Womens and Girls’ Pathway Manager and all Regional and National coaching staff to ensure a comprehensive talent identification process is delivered.
“Talent identification and retention is a key pillar of our high-performance strategy. In order to meet our objectives and consistently qualify our senior national teams to major tournaments, we must focus our efforts to strategically identify Welsh eligible talented players.”
David Adams, FAW Chief Football Officer
