Jess Fishlock completes UEFA A Licence

Cymru’s most capped international footballer and record goalscorer Jess Fishlock, recently completed her UEFA A Licence with the FAW.

Having made 165 appearances for Cymru, scoring 48 goals, Fishlock called time on a 20-year international playing career in October.

Since retiring, Fishlock has been working towards her UEFA A Licence, the second-highest professional course available to football coaches in Europe. Having completed the qualification, Dr David Adams, Chief Football Officer, presented Fishlock with her A Licence certificate in March.

“I am delighted that Jess has taken the step into coaching and this way remains part of Welsh Football after having made such a positive impact on Welsh Football for over 20 years,” said Adams. “Having such an inspirational figure coaching our women’s national team will undoubtedly inspire emerging talent in our pathway and provide support to Rhian Wilkinson and the team.”

Adams added: “As the women’s game grows, having more female role models from our Women’s National Team coaching is crucial.

“Recently Kayleigh Barton, Elise Hughes, Hayley Ladd, Rhiannon Roberts and now Jess Fishlock have gained the UEFA A Licence I am hopeful this will act as a catalyst to inspire more female coaches into the game at all levels.”
