Level Playing Field’s Unite for Access Campaign 2024

The Football Association of Wales (FAW) are proud to continue its support of the Level Playing Field’s Unite for Access campaign which is an annual period of inspiration and celebration of good access and inclusion at sports venues.

The campaign will run this year from Saturday 24 February to Sunday 10 March and aims to showcase the good work being done by clubs to improve accessibility and inclusion in sport. The theme of this year’s Unite For Access campaign will be focussing on “Hidden Disabilities”.

Level Playing Field is a sports charity that acts as a campaigning and advisory organisation for disabled sports fans. The charity offers a range of initiatives and services for disabled sports fans including:

  • The Level Playing Field podcast – A monthly podcast series with exclusive guests from across the sporting community.
  • Have Your Say – Asking disabled fans for their feedback, whether it’s positive or negative, from their experience at live sports events
  • Club Pages – Level Playing Field offer accessibility information for all clubs from the Premier League, EFL, and National League to help disabled supporters plan and enjoy their matchday. This will soon include accessibility information for clubs across the Welsh domestic leagues.

Working alongside Cardiff City FC, the FAW are proud to offer several services at the Cymru national team matches to improve the experiences of its disabled supporters.

During Cymru fixtures, fans can access free audio descriptive commentary, where trained audio describers will keep up with play to the second to ensure listeners know exactly where the ball is and what is happening on the pitch.

Cymru fans can also book into the stadium’s sensory room, which has been designed to accommodate the needs of children and young people with additional sensory needs or sensitivities.

In the domestic game, the Bute Energy Welsh Cup semi-final between The New Saints and Wrexham on Sunday 3 March, live on Sgorio, has been selected as the FAW’s dedicated Unite For Access fixture where both clubs will show their support and help raise the profile of the campaign.
